Pureology Hydrate vs Sheer Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner

Has anybody used both?  Wondering how they compare.  Not so much in ingredients as I can look that up.

I have used Hydrate in the past and that is what the hairdresser usually uses on my hair.

@Icegoddess I thought I would like Sheer Hydrate better but it made my hair very fly away.

Thanks,  guess I'll stay with the one I know and love.  I got away from using it when I was delving into the Curly Girl Method, but I think the only silicone in the Hydrate S&C is amodimethicone and I'm no longer concerned about that one.  It can be removed without sulfates.  I'm currently using Innersense and I like it okay, but I really liked the Pureology when I used it.

@Icegoddess  Yes, I have used the Hydrate but I prefer Pureology's Strength Cure Shampoo & Conditioner. It has more cones but I also use Ouai Detox shampoo once a month. My other favorite is Fable & Mane Shampoo & Conditioner & their pre-wash oil sold at Sephora.

@Icegoddess   Are you still doing the Curly Girl Method?

Re: Pureology Hydrate vs Sheer Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner

@Shanus I do a modified version.  I've never read the book, but some of the methods I've seen just won't work for me.  I use a T-shirt to wrap may hair in getting out of the shower, and I put product into fairly wet hair, but the plopping thing where you put product into dripping wet hair and then wrap it in a towel seems like it would just waste product and I don't have room in the shower for more stuff.  I'm not getting out of the shower with dripping wet hair to do it either.

So, I mostly just avoid silicones, sulfates and drying alcohols.  However, I MUST use hairspray which has the drying alcohol.  And, I found a website that said some silicones can easily be removed simply by using a co-wash and amodimethicone was one listed.  It was a surfactant manufacturer's website, so I would tend to believe it since it runs counter to their bottom line.

I have hard water, and just to make sure, I do use a clarifying shampoo about once a month before I color.

Hope that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense to me @Icegoddess . I can't "plop" either. never understood flattening out your hair w/ t shirt or towel, etc.

I do deep condition at least once a week.

Re: Pureology Hydrate vs Sheer Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner

@Shanus I rarely ever deep condition.  I shower in the morning, so often not enough time.  i do try to Olaplex once a week, but if I'm in a hurry, I'll use the Redken bond builder which is really quick.

I mostly got my information about the curly girl method from groups.  There was one on FB I joined and really liked because it was open to all sorts of methods.  Suddenly, it became all about using only water soluble proudcts and the list of those was very limiting.  The Admin of that group has a line of curly hair products and his wife is a curly hair hairdresser, so of course their line of products was on the list.  However, one of their styling products contains beeswax, so how can that be water soluble?  I'm still a member, but mostly just lurk as I was invited to leave once by the main mod even though I had been an active member of that group before she had even been a member.  I just questioned why the group had changed to water soluble only after being open to all methods without even an announcement.

Most of the curly method groups are very limiting much like the low carb groups.  If you don't follow exactly what that group espouses, you're banned.  But, I found another more accepting group for "curly method rejects".  I just don't believe there is only one way to do things.
