Proactiv users - please read

This may be old news to some, but it's new news to me. My sister told me yesterday that she received a phone call from Proactiv, informing her that steps 1 and 3 in the system were being recalled. Apparently, the benzoyl peroxide's potency could expire well before the expiration date on the bottle. Note that she purchases her products directly from Proactiv.

On the other hand, I purchase my products from QVC and was not notified of the recall. Using google, I found a webpage (see below) which lets you type in the batch numbers of your products to find out if they're the "affected" products. Three of my products were. Instead of filling out the form to request replacements, I called Proactiv directly.

They took my information and said it would be two to three weeks before I'd receive a kit with instructions on how to return my products. After returning the products, it would take another two to three weeks before they'd send replacements. I asked what I was supposed to do in the meantime. They said if I was one of their direct customers, they'd send me a free kit to hold me over; but since I purchased my Proactiv from QVC, I was entitled to nothing, and was told I could "go to a Proactiv kiosk in any mall and purchase a small set" myself. ???

I called QVC's CS last night and spoke to Marie, who was very nice. She checked her recall list and said that QVC had not been notified of any recalls, and this was the first she'd heard of it. She said she'd forward the information to the appropriate department.

It annoys me that I'm being inconvenienced and have to wait quite a while for replacement products; it annoys me even more that this recall seems to be hush-hush, and only direct Proactiv customers are informed and taken care of. I am re-thinking my use of Proactiv products and will be exploring other options, even though I was generally happy with my results.
