Don't laugh, although I did when I first saw it. But, GMA Steals and Deals has a portable personal humidifier on sale for $29.95. For my sinuses, I would prefer a traditional heated mist which are kinda hard to find, but for dry skin I think the cool mist humidifiers serve a purpose. And you can just set it next to where you're sitting or sleeping. The name of the company is Hey Dewy, so they are targeting skin care use vs health benefits. It'll run 8 hours on a single charge, although they don't say how long a full tank of water lasts.

Why would anyone laugh? In the winter I use a cool mist humidifer every night. It's made by Homedics and I fill it about every other night. It's good for my dry skin and indoor allergies.

@WinkkI thought people might laugh because of the personal size. I have a large cool mist humidifier I got from QVC next to the bed, but I quit using it because I didn't feel like it was really helping my sinuses. However, when I go on my ski trips out west, the place we stay provides the room with a warm mist humidifier and I like that better. So, it wasn't the idea of humidifiers that I thought people might laugh at.

@WinkkCan I ask what kid of humidifier you have? i have been going to buy one but reviews are not good on most of them. They leave residue and need to be cleaned oftem. Is this how they all are? TIA

I've been using cool-mist humidifiers for a very long time, probably since they came to market. I noticed that there seems to always be a colder floor where I have the humidifier placed and that makes sense b/c the micro-droplets (created by ultrasonic technology) are heavier than air so the cold droplets sink to the floor. My solution to keep the cool humid air from 'pooling' close to the floor is place a small fan behind the humidifier to keep the air around the room circulating with the micro-droplets of water. Cold floor is not an problem after that and the whole room gets filled with humidity.
----------------
When you use a steam-generated humidifier (warm-mist type) the issue of humidity sinking to the floor isn't an issue because steam is actual water vapor and that is lighter than air....no fan is needed to move the warm humid air around b/c the water vapor is so light that any movement of air makes the vapor move around also.

If you need a warm-mist humidifier check out Honeywell warm mist humidifiers. I own two different models. I don't use mine any more because they are a pain to clean off the mineral scale plus since they use a hot plate to boil water to create the steam, that makes them expensive to run.

@SilleeMeeYeah, I've read they are a bear to clean. I would probably use distilled water in them like I do the cool mist ones so I don't have to buy new filters every 3 months. We have terribly hard water. My older ones started leaking and that's the only reason I could come up with as to why. I always keep them in a plant drip tray for that reason.
DH the other day saw a personal steam thingy that fits over your nose and mouth much like a medical device. That might be what I need. I know my sinuses always appreciate the hot shower or, on mornings I don't shower, that hot wash rag just draped across my face as I breathe in.

@KCDiva-- I bought it several years ago at Bed, Bath and Beyond. The cost was under $40. The brand is Homemdics. But, I'm not sure if they still make them. Mine has been very dependable.

@KCDiva. I wanted to update the information I gave you. The humidifier I have is made by Pure Guardian, model H940CA.
I previously said it was by Homedics.

@IcegoddessI have chronic sinus and chest issues. I have one of those steamers with a face mask that I use when I have a cold and It really helps, esp. since I can't use a lot of decongestants and ibuprofen. I got it from QVC in 2015 (don't think they sell it any more). It is MyPurMist, came with three masks, and a strap to hold it around your neck. After the steam is finished, about 20 minutes, a fan comes on for 8-10 minutes to dry it out internally, which is good to avoid mold. It was pricey at $150, but worth it to me. Probably can find it and other brands on Amazon or elsewhere, maybe for less.
