Start there, but you might also want to talk to someone about a support group that doesn't take place on a shopping forum. The Compact is sort of like going to an AA meeting in the middle of a bar - temptation is all around you here.

I kind of thought the same thing. If you have a shopping problem, it probably isn't best to frequent a shopping channel forum where deals, discounts and "raves" are constantly posted. Too much temtpation if you don't have alot of willpower.

Re: Point me into the right place for shopping addicts

I think it depends on wether the OP is an actual addict, or merely wants to cut back on shopping. Really I read through the Compact thread during a bout of insomnia and it was really eye opening for me. I used to want to try every new beauty item, but never finished any of them. Using some of their tips, when I wanted to try a new item, I would first go through my stash. If I already had a similar item,I did not buy. It was really very helpful to me and I have saved a lot of money. And my stash is slowly but surely diminishing.

thank you Jeannie29  your right what I was trying to say. How do I follow that Compact forum?  I have so much stuff and I act like I am rich and can buy anything I want but thats not the case. I need to learn to use up what I have.  I have to be strong and say "no" don't need it.  thanks for the name of that postingWoman Happy

@MeadowLark The thread is titled ComPact 2015-October. It's on the first page of the beauty forum and was started by Just Bee. It's really very useful. Also, if you list your goals the ladies are generous with tips. Good luck!

I don't think my skincare and makeup is ******! and I do share with family members when I can and if I gave away all my skincare and makeup then I would have to buy again,so I am not gaining anything . I just need to use what I have and not let my favorites get to me. Just wanted to connect with others who are doing the same etc...

Come visit us on the ComPact thread.  It's a place to change old habits and initiate more positive ones.  First you need to bring all your items out of hiding and see what you really have.  Do an inventory.  Once you face the fact that you own 127 shower gels, it's harder to justify buying a new one -- even if it's on sale and shipping is free.  This requires some organization and discipline, but it's doable.  Get yourself a Sharpie and start dating items.  You'll begin to see how long it really takes to use up an item.  This should discourage you from stockpiling.  Because that's how we ended up with all this stuff.  We liked it, it was on sale, and we thought we would die if for some reason we weren't going to be able to get the product again -- especially at a good price.  So as soon as we stocked it we found something we liked more.  And the perfect product sat.  Unused.  For years.  Sound familiar?
