Re: Peter Thomas Roth Jumping the Shark

At my hair salon, I occasionally have a deep conditioning which involves sitting under a hair dryer with my hair coated in some kind of super-duper goop. In fact, it's not the only salon where I've had that treatment. It's certainly not an original PTR idea.

BTW, it's that pumpkin pickin' time of year and if you enjoy pumpkin spice stuff, there's always PTR's Pumpkin Enzyme Mask--my all time favorite mask.

OK, well, I feel like a dork, but I really want to try this!  I don't care how silly it looks, if it gives you a deep conditioning treatment, then bring it on!  Smiley Wink

I LOVE this, lol!

I would use that bonnet with ALL my hair masks. Currently, for a deep mask, I wrap a hot damp towel over my hair (that is soaked in a mask and then placed in a plastic mask cap similar to a shower cap). 30 minutes then rinse. The difference is amazing over doing it in the shower while washing.

Back in the day, I had a bonnet dryer and loved the soothing sound it made while doing masks. Don't know what happened to it : (

Friends have purchased hood dryers and steamer for LOTS of money for their hair and I don't it as any different from this.

I may just have to buy this one!

ITA

I'd use it.

I love deep conditioning with heat!!!  Good for Peter.  I may try this!!!

Re: Peter Thomas Roth Jumping the Shark

at

sally's beauty supply store you can buy a heat cap that is small and easy to use. I used to love my old bonnet hair dryer for a heated conditioning treatment, and it is long gone. This heat cap is much easier to use, and has a nice heat setting to it/ I would not hold a hair dryer up to do a heated conditioner treatment.

The heat cap is nice to wear while you are on the computer!

I found the idea kind of intriguing. I may just want to give this a try so I put it on my Wish List for now. There are some reviews already online for this. At Sephora, I saw that it got five stars. Love old-fashioned hair dryers like that. My mom has an "old school" hair dryer. You know, the kind that you have to sit under with the big dome lid. I love it. She still breaks it out and sits under it to dry her hair. Very retro.

Re: Peter Thomas Roth Jumping the Shark

Really good hair salons have used this method for years to give clients an effective deep conditioning hair treatment.  I have sat under the dryer many times when I feel the urge to have an intensive conditioning.  The difference the heat makes is like night and day.

While I admit his dryer cap was a bit large and cumbersome, the premise behind it is extremely effective.  My hair has always been pretty healthy but if it wasn't in such good condition, I would be very willing to have these conditioning treatments on a very regular basis.  I have a thing about hair that isn't super healthy and was fortunate enough to be blessed with such but even then, I do occasionally get one of these deep treatments with heat.

For anyone who has an issue with dry or brittle hair, especially on the ends which tends to be more common in longer or overly treated hair hair,  adding heat to a high quality deep conditioner can make an enormous difference on their hair.

Not for me. I have healthy hair and recommended buying JOICO's new K-Pak hair mask treatment. My mother used to have that huge cap blow dryer.
