@Boehm Collector  I haven't tried that one. I'm going out tomorrow & I'll be sure to sample.  I love Estée Lauder scents.  The last I had was the Beautiful Magnolia & it was spectacular!  Thanks for the recommendation 😊

Not to rain on anyone's victim parade.

Years ago, I had a man at work on the other side of a high partition complain that my "strong perfume" made him sick.  I hardly wore any, but I stopped wearing any - even stopped using hairspray.  He continued to complain.

He told a co-worker of mine on a Friday that he could tell exactly what time I arrived each day that week and it was so terrible and he was so sickened.  Problem was, I was out of town that week - not there - so whatever was making him sick wasn't me.

Then he started spraying air freshener - which by the way had a very strong odor which wasn't particularly pleasant - apparently that didn't bother him.

Ever since then, I've taken the "perfume makes me sick" with a grain of salt.  No doubt it does affect some people, but I always wonder when they make it a crusade how much is real and how much isn't.

@Isobel Archer   I don't blame you for taking it with a grain of salt.  That's so aggravating.  Seems like there's always one in every crowd hat wants to complain enough in hopes that it will make someone's life difficult.

I use scent sparingly, as any perfume I've ever used stays with me.  The 16 years I worked night shift were my "scented" years; I worked alone, so no one at work was affected, and no one was home when I got in from work, so it was all good.

Since my husband and daughters have asthma and COPD, I have given up fragrance altogether.

Re: Perfume “stories”

[ Edited ]

Yes, I do realize that it can bother some people, but there was a big to do several years ago at my place of employment.  One lady complained how sick it made her.  Then, HR called us ALL in and said we couldn't even wear deodorant unless it was unscented.  No hand creams, lotions, perfume allowed.  Go to H$ll.  We had a vice president on our floor, and she even revolted.  I don't recall any in the group overdoing the scents.

They finally built a wall for this admin.  (We think she was trying to get herself an office). But the kicker was, she would do her nail polish at work, yet that smell didn't bother her.  She moved jobs shortly after that.  But our fresh or linen or ocean scented deodorant made her sick.  Please......

Well I can happily report I did receive the Beautiful Magnolia from my mother for Christmas.  I love the scent summer or winter 😃

Perfumed body lotion is a good alternative for strong spray perfumes, especially if you use it sparingly and out of the shower while your skin is still damp.

I just bought some Elizabeth Arden Red Door perfumed body lotion for $9.99 at Marshalls. A coworker of mine wears Red Door and she always smells so nice, she doesn't put on too much.

My Mom liked and wore Red Door, so that makes it special to me. Her favorite perfume was the Irish perfume Inis, I wear it too for that reason.

I don’t know if this is what the OP has in mind but… I’ve told these stories before.

I’ll start off by saying I’m plump, 77. Not ugly just a regular person. So I know it wasn’t like these men were flirting when these conversations occurred.

The first time I remember had to be maybe 10 years ago . I’d just bought some fast food and was walking across the parking lot to my car.

I passed a guy who looked in his early 30’s. Suddenly, I could sense someone was coming up behind me. It was the same guy! He said, “Excuse me. When I walked past you..I have to tell you that you smell amazing. I’d like to get some for my wife.

Another time I was in the grocery store and a guy around in his early 20’s came up next to me and said, “I’m so glad I found you. When I walked in the store it was a wonderful smell. I just had to tell you.

Another time, in a store , a guy pushing a cart, said “There you are! I’ve been following that smell up and down the aisles. I figured I’d find you! What is the name of that perfume?”

I’ve been in elevators and had people say things like “Someone in here smells amazing”. They’d turn to me and say, “It’s her”.

So what perfume is it! Philosophy Amazing Grace. Especially Amazing Grace Bergamont.

I finally figured out some males, in particular, seem to really like the ‘bergamont’ in the Amazing Grace.

I’ve worn it for years. My husband died in 2004. He always bought me Channel No 5. That’s what I wore. After he died and I ran out of the Channel, I decided I needed a new signature perfume.

I tried Happy and a few others. But it just didn’t suit me. I finally settled on Philosophy Amazing Grace; and Amazing Grace Bergamont’.

I’ve gotten so many compliments about how clean I smell.

Anyway, I thought it’s been awhile since I’ve told these stories. If someone is looking for a signature cologne…you might try it.

If I misinterpreted the OP’s question..I totally apologize.

Take care everyone and please be safe and appreciate every day.
