Re: Paula's Choice Discontinuing Two Lines

The only product in this line that I use is the toner. It is probably one of my top favorites in the brand. I use it every night after cleansing. I love the clean feel and the removal of any possible trace of makeup.

I don't need a "calming" toner. I want my Hydralight! If it is being discontinued -- how did you find out about this, @MissSugarKane?), I might try one of the other toners, I guess.

I do also use the Resist toner but more for a little bit of moisture than as an actual toner.

Ugh--not a happy camper now.  I use the Moisture Boost SPF every morning and cleanse with the Hydralight cleanser and my skin has never looked/felt better.  Back to the drawing board.  How did you find out about this?  Is there a link somewhere?

If I'm not mistaken, the moisture boost spf and the calm for dry skin spf have the exact same ingredients. I can't remember for sure and am not home to double check but you might compare the ingredients to see.

I feel the same way.  Hope they aren't messing with a good thing.  Every time I stray away from Paula's Choice, I always end up regretting my decision.  My skin can be quite complicated and I have to be really careful about what I use.  I believe the company was bought out by a private equity company.  Unfortunately, what they say goes.  Paula probably is just there as a consultant.

I just copied and pasted both sets of ingredients (looking at the normal-to-dry Calm one) into a Word doc to read through them and unfortunately, they aren't the same.

Re: Paula's Choice Discontinuing Two Lines

Okay, so I talked to CS just now. Yes, they are phasing out the two lines but some products in each will remain -- not many, though.

CS really touted the two Calm lines (one for oily, one for more dry). She said that they are more gentle and an improvement.

I will probably try the toner to replace my Hydralight toner. Yes, it is slightly more expensive but still relatively reasonable.

I wonder which products will be kept from those two lines.  Crossing fingers...

@sueeich she does have input but ultimate decisions  are made by the owners. Of course, decisions are often made based on profits (obviously) and this often translates to reformulations using cheaper and/or less % of more expensive ingredients and often makes the products less effective.

I have tried a few of the redness/calm products and while I do like some of them, I do not believe they've ever really done much to control redness or calm my slightly sensitive skin. The only one that may have is the anti-redness 2%bha which is the formula of bha I mainly use these days. I have been using the new calm serum and like it ok-much better than her other serums I'm but not sure I'd repurchase. I don't really have a lot of redness though so maybe those who do would actually benefit from these products from the "calm" standpoint.

@gemologygal, CS did tell me, but I can't remember because I was really only asking about the toner. Give them a call.

The Hydralight toner is the product I am most upset about. I like that it has so few ingredients and doesn't break me out. The Calm version has more ingredients and the antioxidants are not at the top of the ingredients list like with the Hydralight. Plus reviews say it smells. I am waiting for them to get samples to try it out.

When I saw these two lines go on sale I knew something was up and contacted customer service. Once they confirmed it I got all psycho and sent them a really angry email lol. You can't mess with a woman's skincare like this and not expect a few nervous breakdows!
