Has anyone had permanent eyebrows tattooed on????? Someone suggested that I do this as I have no right brow and only a tiny left one. I would really appreciate your feedback. TIA.

  • The biggest con to getting permanent eyebrow tattoos is of course that you will be stuck with what you get forever. This can be a good thing if they look good, but if for some reason, the results are not what you want, you will have to live with them.
  • The procedure is quite costly, ranging anywhere from about $300 to $1000.
  • Like with all tattoos, your skin will change over time as you age and could possibly result in an unnatural looking tattoo later in life. This should be taken into consideration at the time you get your tattoo.

I had mine done last year. I made sure I went to a really good permnent makeup artist and paid about $600. I had 3 visits totalling about 10 hours. The first one she took a medical history, did a match for color and a patch test to make sure I wasn't allergic. $50 nonrefundable deposit

Because the skin around the eyebrows is thinner, the dye cannot be placed as deeply as a tatoo you might have done in your arm. This means that it wears out. I will need to go for a touch up annually for an additional $100 a year. Sun will fade your tatoos as will some moisturizers and sun screens.

It hurt (in spite of the numbing agent) and I had thread-like lines done to mimic hairs. And your eyebrows will be swollen afterwards and won't have their final shape for about 6-10 weeks - that was the third appt so she could "fine tune" the tatooing.

My mom has had permanent eye liner tattooed on her for 25 plus years. If you like the look and don't anticipate wanting to change, then it may be a good choice for you. The tattoos do fade so she has had them reapplied a couple of times over the years. She just had them redone last summer.

I have very sparse eyebrows due to chemo. I would never go for anything permanent. There many good eye brow pencils, makeup, etc to help. What if you didn't like the way they turned out. I would not take the chance, just my opinion.

You can go to a website called Designing Features that has before and after pictures that will amaze you. I am getting my eyebrows done next fall I think, when we get back from snowbirding to Pa. When the person who has this website does them she uses a "hairstroke" method that looks really like real hair. If I can afford to i am also getting eyeliner done. You'll see on the website - this person only charges $300 for eyebrows, but i am hoping I'll get the family discount as she is my DH cousin.

I would love to have mine done but what prevents me is for every good job, I see a half dozen bad ones. I've researched it extensively and it isn't always the fact that one artist isn't as good as another, or she is having a bad day. Our bodies do not all take dye the same way.

My natural eyebrows are literally non existent. I put on my brows first thing every morning. It is a royal pain but I'm just too chicken.

I looked into it yrs ago, but found out tattoos can change color. Most common with eyebrows? They turn blue! Eeps!

Also...if you find someone that has a good rep & does good work, but across the country? Buy the ticket to get there....this is something you'll have forever....a $400 airplane ticket on top of the cost of a forever & ever tattoo....it's worth it.

At the risk of over-sharing, I'll give you my experience, yours of course would certainly vary. I'm a very fair, natural blonde, and I have always been missing the "tail" of my eyebrows (what little was there didn't show up). As I've become more *mature*, from any distance, my brows seemed to have become invisible, which gives one a sort of surprised, if not spooky look. Since I don't usually wear makeup around the house and I like to look as good as I can without makeup, I decided to have my eyebrows done. Twice. The first was done at my derm's office spa, however, even after two visits, there was no discernible difference! I was nervous about it and she kept promising me I "wouldn't look like a tattooed lady", and I didn't! $300.

Everyone I knew who had theirs done and loved them (and they did look great -- natural) went to the same artist, so I went to her too. She used her lightest blonde shade (a taupe, really), and I've always felt it was too dark for my fair skin without makeup. Two sessions, $300. With makeup, it was fine. It makes tweezing very easy, BTW. After about five years, it's now faded to the point that it looks pretty good without makeup, but there are areas that need touch-up. I'm not going to do that at this point. I have observed most older people, male and female, have lighter, sparser brows and that looks more natural to me now. I put a little Anastasia blonde eyebrow powder over it when I'm going for "full makeup".

I do not agree that it was painful -- no worse than tweezing IMO, which is one of my "hobbies". LOL.

Now, I also had permanent upper and lower eyeliner (outer half of eye) done about 12 years ago because my eyeliner transferred to my hooded upper eyelids. That was a GREAT solution! To be honest, that was PAINFUL! Would do that again, (except for discovering I was allergic to the topical anesthetic and my eyelids stayed swollen "out to there" for more than a week!) The eyeliner has also faded, but it's still "there" and I just add whatever shade of eyeliner if I want more of an accent.

To recap my experience: Permanent Eyeliner -- Recommended! Permanent Eyebrows -- not so much, if you're a fair complexion blonde.

Had mine done several years ago - one of the best beauty decisions I have ever made! I agree with other posters - go to a trusted source preferably one that comes recommended by a friend or family member. Mine has faded over thee years but that's ok. I always put on a brow powder or pencil anyway when I do my makeup ( I liked a more defined look). But on days when I don't wear make up (especially when I'm working out) it's AWESOME to not have to worry about brows. My natural brows have always been thick and curly and just impossible to shape or train so I just tween them out completely. Much more polished look. Hope this helps! I say go for it!
