So, I keep telling myself I'm going to organize and declutter my makep/skincare stash, but I keep putting it off. I have way too much and really should stop buying and getting rid of what I will not use. I really think it is a sickness to buy so much knowing you don't need it. Also I'll use the same tired old products everyday when I have so much that is new and hasn't been used. I need to just get rid of what I've been using as frankly I am bored with them. Please tell me if anyone can relate or am I an oddball!

@Jordan2 I'm in the same boat! I have so much make up and skin care. I have to get organized too. It makes me crazy with all that chaos. My clothes closet is neat and organized, I have to get off my butt and do my make up. Good luck. I'm going to do it this week I hope.

You are not alone... I have been buying too much- Trying to just stop and focus on other things. For me, buying stuff is a quick bandaid to feel better, (working a lot)- But it's just ridiculous. I don't need anything... I think, instead of decluttering, just stop buying more NOT needed stuff! That's step 1. But decluttering is good too! Best wishes. 😊

@Jordan2  Clothes is my accumulate and declutter issue.  I am constantly re-organizing from season to season and moving them around and purge often.  Do  I wear most of it more than once - wear some often and some rarely.

You are not alone.  I'm in the same club.  I buy way too much.  Being active in a besuty forum doesn't help.  I hear about something and I'm off to Amazon, to order. I've recently recommitted to using BB/CC creams, foundations, and tinted moisturizer that I have on hand and not buy anymore for awhile.  The only exception I'm allowing myself is the A/D delivery of my IT Nude Glow. I really like that one.  I hope I can stay committed.  Don't get me started on blushes. I would have enough to last at least a couple years if I didn't buy another one  Lippies have always been weakness of mine. I just ordered another set the other day. I'm slowly going through all of my old ones. I'm discovering that several I thought were pretty on tv, online, or in the tube often look terrible when I get them on. Or they'll look ok in my inside lighting, but awful in the car mirror.  Part of me feels guilty, getting rid of the pricier ones, but DH say there's no sense crying over spilt milk. That money was gone long ago. I keep telling myself to stick with drugstore brands and tinted balms, like Burt's Bees, from now on,  We'll see.

I tend to hold on to my new things because I always want to have something new, I guess I think I won't be able to buy anything again. My dear departed mother would sometimes say to me  " oh those are nice pants (or insert item of clothing) is it new"? I would say "it's new as I haven't worn it before, but I didn't just get it"!

When the pandemic hit, I stopped wearing makeup. It was liberating and today I don't wear it like I used to. Got rid of a lot of stuff. I don't need to wear that much makeup and I feel good about it.

@Jordan2  - oh my you are not alone.  I have enough makeup and skin care to last until the next decade.  I need to stop buying for a while and use what I have. It's an ongoing struggle for me.

For anything that is new or gently used that you would like to get rid of, I would like to suggest donating to Project Beauty Share.  They are a fantastic organization that helps women get back on their feet again.  A lot of people on the Board donate to them.  I send them boxes of my stuff all the time.  It doesn't feel as bad to send it to them knowing another woman will be be able to use it.  You can check on their website for what that accept and their mailing address.

What I discovered? If you don't stop buying don't waste your time trying to declutter.  It will just come back. The only thing you declutter is your bank account.  Woman Embarassed
