Stacey on LC wears ombre nails, a white pearl shading into pink at the tips.  Does this take an airbrush at the salon or can it be done at home?

I've seen it done with an airbrush.  Not sure I've seen an at home version.

Re: Ombre nails?

It's done with a regular makeup airbrush. Just change out the tips for nail applications.

I think Stacey's nails look like she dipped them in blood. Not crazy about her nail color choice.

I've gotten ombre nails done at my salon.  Would never think of doing them myself.

I can barely apply a solid color on my nails without making a huge mess !

@depglass  I’ve seen it done on Pinterest where you polish the entire nail one color and there’s a thinner polish that you purchase to dip just the ends into. You can search Ombré Nails and see what comes up.

@Shanus.  I recent got a promo from Pinterest for an elaborate nail design.  I clicked and discovered it was sort of a decal you put on your nail, affix it then file it off the edges so it fits the shape of your nail.

@depglass

When I had my nails done 3 weeks ago, "dip powder," one of the nail techs had ombre nails and I asked her if they now offered ombre nails at the salon.  She said yes and that it costs the same as "dip powder" nails at $36.  She had just moved over in my direction to fetch the huge chains of color samples, but did have to return to her client, so wasn't able to ask her how it's done.

I'm weary of nail polish in any form, even if it's applied with an airbrush and then given a good clear coat after, as I'm hard on my nails.  Last time decided to forego the dip powder only and had one layer of dip powder followed by gel polish.  The gel polish colors are outstanding, but it started to "drop off" of my nails in chunks that very same day.  Though I had many compliments on the deep red I had chosen, I'll not be choosing that again.

Am going back to the nail salon next week and plan to ask about their ombre technique.  Thanks for bringing ombre up today.

I've done this many times. All you need is a makeup sponge to dab on a different color on the nail. I learned how to do this on youtube.

Hi depglass, I just recently discovered and purchased Color Street nail strips, sounds like what you are describing. Will be putting them on tomorrow...they are pink fading into silver. Can't wait!!
