Kat Von Dee has a very nice red lippie (a blue red) not an orange red....I love it.  I don't wear red a lot, but hers is the only one I will wear.  Color is misfit.  Long wearing satin-matte.

If you want a cheap one that is beautiful and lasts forever, try Rimmel in the color “Kiss Me You Fool.” I buy mine at Walgreens.

I'm not trying to be a wet blanket, but this is just a thought.  Do you usually wear lipstick?  In deeper shades?  Then by all means try a red.  If you don't wear lipstick at all, or wear conservative nudes or pinks, a red might be shocking.

The red standard has always been "Revlon Red".

I prefer a light burgundy, Clinique Heather Moon which is slightly shear.  It's the color of the base of a candied apple.

I don't feel I can wear red lipsticks. But I really wanted one. I had a Victoria Principal red but how long has it been since she sold them lol so its old. I found a sheer red from Lipstick Queen off ULTA but they no longer sell LQ. Its a beautiful red, and yes, sheer. so I love it and do wear it. I love Besame Cosmetics but they're $28 a tube! So I'm nursing my LQ sheer red.

MAC Ruby Woo. A total classic with staying power.  My only red.

My fave is MAC Powder Kiss matte lipstick in Shocking Revelation. It's a very blue red.
