Oil for eyelashes

[ Edited ]

I just started using Rapidlash and I know it will be at least a couple of months before I see results, if any, but I've been reading a lot of posts and watching YouTube videos about women using various different oils and even petroleum jelly on their eyelashes (one even mixed some raw egg white with an oil and petroleum jelly, which don't mix well at all) and they all swear it's made a big difference in the length and thickness of their lashes as well as their condition (healthy and glossy looking). I'm thinking that if I get some results from the Rapidlash, I could maybe maintain my lashes going forward using a more natural approach. With all of the different recommendations out there, it's been rather confusing though. Do any of you have a favorite potion that you feel has made a difference in your lashes?

ETA: I have also heard that some products can be too thick and "occlusive" clogging the hair follicles and preventing hair growth. I would think that petroleum jelly would be in this category?

I've been using rosehip  seed oil on my lashes for a long time now and yes, for me, it makes a world of difference. I've used other oils too and they are fine (some are too much) but I prefer rosehip seed oil. It has made my lashes longer and they no longer break off like they used to. It takes quite awhile before you start to see a difference- at least a month or two - but I am happy with the results and it is much cheaper than other lash treatments. I used to use Rapid lash but I got tired of paying the $$ for it when RHSO works just as well, if not better for my lashes. Oils don't make my lashes darker or thicker though, just longer and more of them and less breakage and loss.

@HappyDaze Where do you purchase your rose hips seed oil? Can it be used on skin for moisturizing?

I am presently using Tatcha camelia oil, my BFF just got me to try oils for the 1st time.

@maestra there are alot of nice brands that have oils now but I like Shea terra organics for several reasons. I've been using theirs for several years and I trust the company, the quality is always great and I like what the company stands for. I am sure there are other nice ones around too, I just always buy theirs. And yes, you certainly can use it on your skin. I now usually mix it in with my Paula's Choice moisture boost renewal oil though since it has a nice mix of all sorts of good oils but I still do use RHSO on its' own at times. hth!

Thank you @HappyDaze for your response. I like Shea Terra as well, love the Nilotica butter and am always happy to support companies doing good for women, especially in developing countries.

I've used both castor oil and RapidLash. RapidLash seemed to do nothing for a while, but then around 4-6 weeks, I actually had to trim my lower lashes because they were so long.

Castor oil gave me no visible results, even though it's one of the oils most commonly linked to hair growth.

I also started using Rapidlash a couple months ago. The first couple weeks I was like meh, I don't know if this is really doing anything. I continued to use it and at about 6 weeks was when I really saw the difference. I'm really glad I didn't give up on using it.

Thank you for your replies, ladies. I'll probably try rose hip oil once I finish my tube of Rapidlash. It sounds like it's not as heavy as some others.

Rapid Lash doesn't work for me anymore, even when I take a break and go back to using it.

I'll be on the look-out for rosehip seed oil. Thanks for the tip! @HappyDaze
