If your not exfoliating you should start and see if that helps.

I just discovered Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Cushion Compact SPF 35 - it's great. Very light, has SPF and buildable coverage.  I highly recommend it.

I think it's the best one so far (and that's saying a lot!)

Try Dior. I use everything from IT to LG, Eve Pearl, BB and CC creams. My skin is always different. But Dior is fabulous.

Have you tried Merle Norman. I don't read too many mentions about it on this board, but I've used the Aqua Balance and love love love it!  I'm closing in on 55 and it works great on my skin. If you have a store near you, they'll try it on you. I go back and forth between the IT CC and the Merle Norman and I just love it!

Leave that department store counter and go to the drug store - I have tried many foundations and have found my holy grail - L'Oreal true match foundations. Comes as a liquid or a powder and I use a slight bit of the powder over the liquid to set it. However for daily use I just wear a light touch with the powder,I am a freckled natural redhead and this foundation covers my freckles - yet is light & natural looking.

Also, in my experience - when MU cakes or settles into wrinkles , it is because I have put on too much.  I am much happier with my MU when I am very careful to use a light touch.

@jobiz,

I agree with the above recommendation of L'Oreal True Match Super-blendable Makeup.  This is the one in the short glass bottle without the pump.  But, I find that I must use a primer underneath this foundation as it will otherwise settle into fine lines by the end of the day and to apply it lightly with a damp cosmetic wedge.  I also set it with a very light touch of the True Match powder foundation or Laura Geller Balance-n-Brighten.  The finish is sheer and natural, no shimmer or sparkles, but it's not flat matte, either.  It's a great drugstore foundation.

L'Oreal also makes a True Match Lumi in a pump bottle but it does have shimmer in it, fair warning.  I personally did not care for the Lumi because the shimmer just highlighted all the surface texture flaws, like wrinkles, that I am trying to disguise, lol.  The luminous shimmer foundations look fabulous on flawless young skin, but on older skin with wrinkles and texture issues, eh, not so great (especially in bright sunlight - eek).

If you like to read blog reviews/watch YouTube reviews of makeup for older women, then you might like the reviews by Angie of Hot and Flashy 50 (just Google her).  She's in her early fifties with combo skin and does lots of foundation reviews.  Her reviews have saved me a ton of money and time, that's for sure.

Why is it sooooo hard to find a foundation for my "50 ish" skin. It's either too matte, too cakey or just plain yucky. I have tried so many mall counters.  This weekend I tried Bobbie Brown Rich Moisture..... A no go!!  Este L Double Wear was cakey, The MAC sales lady was nice but loaded makeup on me...  I had asked for light to medium look.

Please help with any suggestions of foundations. My skin is combo and the foundations I have tried settle into pores and wrinkles.

HELP!!!

Its a sad fact we will always have to deal with wrinkles.Every make -up will collect in the wrinkle.Ive tried many brands and the one I like the most is cream to powder Milani found in Drugstore or Walmart.This will stay on for along time and really do not have to re-touch that much.Use primer before I apply foundation....Also use makeup sponge to  dab excess in wrinkle..Revlon Colorstay is good too..

Sometimes it's not the foundation, but the condition of my skin. When I use my Clarisonic, exfoliate regularly & am not too lazy to apply my moisturizer/serum/eye cream/SPF.....ALL foundations go on smoother and more natural looking. I use BB Foundation Stick. At 68, I've used it since the BB line started I think 25 yrs. ago. It is sheer, but buildable & for most skin types. I like that I can throw the stick in my travel bag or purse & go. I don't use a sponge or brush for application. A makeup artist at the counter showed me how to make a stripe on my forehead, one on each cheek, one on my nose & one on my chin. Give it a second to warm up to my skin & I lightly smooth it over my face. Sometimes I need a drop more for redness around my nose. In winter, I don't have to set T Zone w/ powder, but I usually set w/ powder in summer. I've learned to "listen" to what my skin needs...more or less coverage, same w/ moisturizers, etc.

Jobiz, I could have written your post.  I have the same problems.  I have also used many different primers and I exfoliate every morning.  I am almost to the point that I feel foundation makes me look worse.  It always looks good when first applied but later the pores and wrinkles are full.  I have used most of the foundations recommended except Dior and Eve pearl.  I was going to try Estee Lauder double matte again.  I have not used it in many years.  I will definitely get it where it can be returned easily.  I hesitate because of no spf.  I hate applying so many layers.
