Why is it sooooo hard to find a foundation for my "50 ish" skin. It's either too matte, too cakey or just plain yucky. I have tried so many mall counters.  This weekend I tried Bobbie Brown Rich Moisture..... A no go!!  Este L Double Wear was cakey, The MAC sales lady was nice but loaded makeup on me...  I had asked for light to medium look.

Please help with any suggestions of foundations. My skin is combo and the foundations I have tried settle into pores and wrinkles.

HELP!!!

I've never been disappointed with Clinique.

Are you using a primer? If not, then this is something you may need to start looking at. Understand too, that your primer, your moisturizer, your spf AND your foundation have to all play nicely or you'll still have the same issues.

Getting older is not fun, let me tell ya.

Currently, Lancomes Visionnaire (1 Minute Blur) is genius on my skin with the new Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation. I also like the combo of Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Foundation Mixed with KVD Foundation. Both look amazing with this primer. It took me months of trying this and that (thank God for samples) and these combos have proven the best in gliding over fine lines, not settling into lines or pores and making my skin look flawless.

Good luck!!

I really like Pur Minerals or IT Celebration or IT CC Cream. I have dry skin/combo skin depending on the season!

Have you tried any of the moisturizers with a small amount of tint/color in them? I'm in my 60s but realized some years ago that foundation per se was just too heavy for me (an age thing, I guess). Olay, Cover Girl and L'Oreal all have good ones at your local drug store for a reasonable price. I don't want or need anything close to full coverage in a foundation, but I do want a little color plus moisturizer.

Dior Nude.  I've used it for years and I'm in my 50's.  I have combo skin.  I use Murad oil control mattifier as my primer.  I thank the person from years ago on this board who recommended both products.

You may want to consider Eve Pearl's foundation.

Leave that department store counter and go to the drug store - I have tried many foundations and have found my holy grail - L'Oreal true match foundations. Comes as a liquid or a powder and I use a slight bit of the powder over the liquid to set it. However for daily use I just wear a light touch with the powder,I am a freckled natural redhead and this foundation covers my freckles - yet is light & natural looking.

Also, in my experience - when MU cakes or settles into wrinkles , it is because I have put on too much.  I am much happier with my MU when I am very careful to use a light touch.

Laura Mercier has wonderful foundations.  You can read the reviews.  I use her tinted moisturizer and it's the best I have ever used.  Plus, if you don't like it, you can return it.  If you sign up for emails every once in a while you will receive 20 or 25% discount.  I just received a 25% discount.  She has beautiful lipsticks, very nice blushes, fragrances, I could go on & on.  I don't mind paying more if I receive a quality product and then it's nice to receive the discounts.  I never found Bobbi's foundations to be nice.  Good luck.  Cat Happy

I am 72.  I have used Laura Geller for about 10 years.  I am now retired so I only use the Balance & Brighten regular with SPF15 for dressing up for town.  My daily routine is to cleanse, moisturize and put on LG tinted spackle ( primer) and maybe her color correcting finishing powder and then mascara.  I put the spackle on after moisturizer every night as well.  The spackle helps seal my treatments in and keeps air contaminates out.  The bronze tinted primer also gives my aging skin a glow.  No real tan and no faux tan.  I have still been questioned several times in restaurants when I have asked for a senior discount.   I know I definitely do not look 55 but even new doctors ( I have several medical problems) question my age and I have had to prove for their records.   Along with LG is use Philosophy.   All other products, including more expensive from QVC, dried out my skin and in some cases caused itching.  Good luck finding the products that work for you.  You are worth it.
