Well after kissing a load of frogs, I finally found my prince and we are so in love and happy with each other to the point that we openly discuss getting married. We know that this is it and I believe my guardian angel/mother nudged God into helping us find each other ![]()
With that said, he asked me to send him pictures of rings I like so he can get an idea and he said he is now saving up for one. As mentioned in other posts, my mother died this past March, and because I am the only child, all her jewelry got passed down to me and she has some beautiful diamonds. I mentioned to him that he should save money and just use her diamonds in a new setting so not only will it be beautiful but it will have more meaning and will be even more special but he is hesitant as he already has a ring in mind.
He could propose with a ring from a Cracker Jack box and I'd still be elated, but I am wondering how I could convince him that it would mean more to have her diamonds in a setting of his choice and if he wants to add to it so it's more personalized, and that was the money he would spend on a new rings could go to help paying for the wedding/honeymoon/living expenses. And is it easy for a jeweler to take an old ring and reset the diamonds or is there risk to the stones? Thoughts?
