Re: Mascara. When you apply mascara, do you first coat the top of upper lashes before wiggling wand through the underneath lashes?

I tend to coat the underside of the top lashes first. I don’t have much bottom lashes so I don’t spend much time on them.

I only use mascara on the underside of my top lashes, and just do one coat. Might do a coat on the top if I'm going out for something really special. Never put mascara on my bottom lashes.

I've always applied on the underside of the top lashes. I had never considered doing the top side of the upper lashes before, thinking I'd probably bump my lid and mess up my eyeshadow. I did see a makeup demo recently where the person applied on the top but didn't get super close to the lashline. I haven't tried it yet. I usually apply one coat to my bottom lashes and two coats to my top.

Same here.

Upper lashes only, underside only.

I never put mascara on the bottom lashes... it tends to flake more and come off more if I use any kind of eye product.

I’ve found, unless it’s a non-volumizing mascara, it will weigh down the lashes if applied on the top of upper lashes. I have, however, wiped off the wand and placed it close to the upper lash line (where liner would go) & lightly press and then sweep wand up and out. The effect is similar to tight lining. A bit of mascara is deposited between the upper lashes giving the lashes a thicker appearance. Then I apply mascara as usual from underneath.
Lower lashes, not so much for me. I sometimes use a fine brush, go back into my crease color, and place a thin line under bottom lashes, but no mascara.

I use Tightline as a primer and do 1 coat underneath the upper lashes and finish with a swipe on top of the upper lashes, and then 1 coat on the lower lashes. I love that skinny brush to not make a mess of things. I always get a little extra length out of the top lashes that way. I follow up with 1 coat of my regular mascara.

I have long lashes, but they are straight and very fine, especially at the tips. I only coat the top lashes, as putting mascara on the bottom makes them stick together, which I can't stand. I first use a curler on them, then I apply a coat from underneath first, trying to get as close to the base as possible. I let dry a couple minutes while I apply my lipstick. I then appy a light coat from the top to the tips and proceed to add another coat from the bottom all the way up to the tips. If I don't pay special attention to the tips, it won't look like they are there!
