O/T...handbags...do you follow old fashion rules??

Hi ladies!! Ok...I have a ? for you all...do you all follow the "old school" fashion rules as to what color handbags you should carry when??

Reason I am asking...is I found a super great deal on a leather coach bag yesterday at my local Outlet store..it is a Soho Pleated Tote but in a Sage Green Color....the color is so different and pretty and the bag is a great size..hold alot....but.....I am looking to carry it now. I have a grey wool coat and it looks pretty against the coat, but do you think it is OK to carry now??? I am not a black/brown bag girl...I always look for a pop of color in my handbag....would have loved to find it in a hot pink, but I couldn't pass this up....it retailed for over $300, and I got it for just under $80!!!!

Would love your opinions!!!
