What is your local area known for? Wine making, artisian cheese, glass blowing, Amish canned goods, a certain local artist, gem mines, etc. What would make the gift specific to your family, their visit, and your region? You could give the small gift and them take them to a place (museum, hike, sporting event, restaurant) that would demonstrate the regional flare of the gift.
