That would potentially be a nice job... Would love to work at home... The rub is I don't live in Florida and have no intent to live in Florida... And no, I have nothing against Florida... just not my plan...

I wouldn't think residing in FL would be a requirement for an "at home" job.

I was thinking the very same thing. While they may be advertising in Florida for the position, I would guess they are probably also advertising elsewhere. Many companies now have employees working from home yet not living in one central area. I considered a position quite a few years ago now that was designed that way. The company didn't really care where I resided.

Personally, I would not enjoy seeing the hosts in QVC clothing. They just don't offer enough in styles that would work for this kind of live, on-air position. As a host, I'd think that most try to look and dress as attractively as possible and they are not going to find enough from which to choose within the lines QVC sells.

I would think internal employees are also welcome to apply for the job. Jane (not Tracey, the other Jane) originated from the CS Rep ranks and has proven to be a great host. Many companies initiate job openings/opportunities within the company first then move on to open advertising.

I tried to have my husband try out years ago--he had a degree in broadcasting and some stage experience. And he was gorgeous (well, I thought so, but I am prejudiced). However, the drive from our place to the studio was pretty rugged, and they start you out in the early morning/ late night slots and he was always lacking a lot of energy (which turned out to be part of what was the reason he passed away so young.)

But I thought he'd have been very good--he had that Irish gift of gab and was funny as can be. He was strongly considering it, but the hours would have been very hard on us.

I think it's a great career for those who want to be on TV but not work their way up the boonies in newscasting.

I am more surprised that they posted this add on Craigslist.

Most companies use multiple resources for recruiting, including Craigslist.

It's actually the image of Craiglist that I was thinking of. I have an extrmely negative view of this site. Murders, Rapist. that sort of thing.

haleypie: My husband was born and raised in Spokane, WA. We lived there the second year of our marriage after he graduated from seminary. I loved it. Mad they closed Cyrus O'Learys though. That layer dip rocked! ;-)

I love Spokane! Is his family still here? Sounds like you've been back relatively recently. Cyrus's is gone, and so is C.I. Shenanigans!

He has tons of friends still in the area, but no family. His mom passed away 3 years ago. Spokane was my first introduction to Kettle Corn and Pig out in the Park. Oh my goodness!

As for the compensation, it's not bad for a starting salary. Based on what we hear, successful hosts earn quite a bit more... And then there are the benefits, perks, samples, vendor contacts and so on...

I agree and if you live in this area unless you are already in a very successful career it could be a great opportunity.

A great opportunity for those who do nothing but criticize the hosts that are there now. You can take your star qualities, with your pleasant, mild mannered and slow speaking voices, wide vocabulary that never repeats a word or phrase, and by all means your presentations that never come across as a hard sell, all while wearing only your OVC clothing, shoes and jewelry and show everyone how it's done.

Here is the chance of a lifetime for y'all that are always complaining.

They must be "intelligent". I would like to see all of the hosts use proper language, not scream, not say the say words over and over, not tell us about their personal problems, wear the QVC fashions on air all the time. None of them should be able to wear their own clothes on air.

So, can we all take it that you will be applying, since you already know what will be required in the job and it would clearly be an easy job for you? I think it's called "put your money where your mouth is" time. {#emotions_dlg.glare}
