I doubt they have a max on inventory for each show. The hosts are there to sell and will try any tactics - if it works they'll continue!!

I don't know for sure but they love to say that everything is sold out or nearly sold out. Wondering......if the quantity is small, maybe they like to spread it around when they multiple days of selling the same stuff.

I like HSN but they are notorious for saying something is near sellout and the item is still available at 9:00 p.m. I think their definition of sellout is 5,000. What tickles me is when they say there are hundreds on the phones and the next presentation the counter doesn't reflect that. I do agree this is not honest.

It's a pretty good sales ploy that some people are naive enough to accept. They probably figure most of you won't be watching four or five hours later when they're still trying to sell whatever it is. If it's something you MUST have, buy it, but if you're mildly interested, I'd say just wait until you're sure. Besides, if it sells out, they are sure to restock and you'll get another chance.

These types of comments are just normal sales and marketing techniques. The people on shopping channels are SALES People.

I'm sure commissions play a role. If you wait until later, another host gets the commission for the sale.

Do you notice that she also mentions that she purchased all of the items that she owns at a higher price, and not the great savings that you are being offered for that day.

A lot of their hosts say this, I just ignore it. Of course, it is a tactic to get people to order.
