Picked up my new Costco glasses last week....I have an ophthalmologist due to several eye issues so I can't see the Costco dr.but took my prescription to Costco to get my glasses.....I could not see out of them and was very frustrated! I went back to my dr and he realized his nurse had made a mistake on one measurement.....went back to Costco and they remade my glasses at no charge; love my new glasses! DH sees the eye dr. at Costco and has really liked the service and quality.

Our family has been getting their eye exams, eyeglasses, and contacts at Costco for several years. Always thorough and professional. No complaints here.

When I had no vision insurance I used to get my glasses and exams at costco. I was very happy with them, more happy than some of of the places covered by insurance

At least everyone should make sure they go to the ophthalmologist every so often to make sure they get glaucoma checks, etc.I'd never go for an exam at Costco----I want an ophthalmologist examining my eyes. Too many things can get missed with a less experienced individual. Now if you already have an ophthalmologist you see regularly and just need to get refracted for glasses then an optometrist is fine. Fortunately my MD does both.
My glasses and contacts, however, I get at Costco.

I have my exams at Sam's Club every year, pretty much the same as Costco (we go there as well, but I love the dr at Sam's). Anyway, Sam's does not accept VSP and if you call VSP Sam's/Costco/etc are not on the approved provider list. That being said, they still print a receipt for my insurance and give me a VSP claim form every year, and VSP reimburses me for the exam, every year. So if you do go to Costco, be sure to send in your receipt!I can't believe that Costco would have optometrists that were not as equally trained and licensed as an independent optometrists office. As a matter of fact, I just might try them next time. I will see if my VSP Plan covers Costco. The last time I went to my optometrist (a big practice) I got a very mediocre exam. Literally less than 5 minutes. I do see my ophthalmologist yearly (Macular Degeneration is in my family history) so he would see anything that is a significant medical problem, but he does not do eye exams for glasses.

After my Costco exam 2 yrs ago the Dr told me I needed to see a retina specialist. As it turned out I have macular degeneration (wet macular ) in the left eye and have been getting injections once a month in that eye ever since. Thank you Costco !!
