Watch out for Yoplait yogurt. If you look at the ingredients, it's full of sugar. But Fage greek yogurt has an excellent texture. If you put a packet of splenda in it, it is like mousse.
In addition, a Weight Watchers tip is to get fat free graham crackers, break them into the large squares, put fat free cool whip between them, bag them individually and freeze. It's 1 point and the cool whip turns to marshmallow. It is a great, sweet and crunchy before bed snack you don't have to feel guilty about.

If you have a sweet tooth like me, try making sugar free jello and adding lite Cool Whip instead of the cold water. It is delicious! The orange jello made this way tastes like a creamsicle. (don't know how to spell it but a frozen orange cream bar).

Apples with peanut butter.
Greek yogurt---be sure it does not have high fructose corn syrup.
Almonds, or almond butter on an apple.
Gluten-free snacks and walking really work---just be sure the gluten-free are homemade and not processed things.
You can also make these crustless quiches in little muffin tins---recipes online.
Dark chocolate.
Gluten is typical in many carbs, while rice doesn't have gluten, it has less carbs (rice cakes) and a better pick for a snack to tide you over till supper. Some people are gluten intolerant or sensitive and don't know it. The fact that gluten is common in those things we love but shouldn't over do, breads, chips, dips, most snack bars, etc....is a good coincidence. Some people make the double connection and some don't. The push that gluten is not a bad thing is by the wheat industry and politics making up junk research that most people can't read for themselves and know it is all political junk. Gluten free is much like Atkins in cutting way back in carbs, but can be an essential element in people that are intolerant. Among all societies ours has the most wheat/gluten based diet and a heavily lobbied element in DC. Rice is such a common staple in many cultures and countries, but ours. Typically Americans don't eat rice at most meals or even once a week. Many countries make use of the rice flour and use it to make what we use wheat for, so they don't have gluten as a major factor. Rice is healthier than wheat because of carbs and resulting sugars. I'm not sure of the protein count, but we should do more to include all grains into our diets including those ancient grains that are now making a resurgence. Our ancestors stayed health because their lives lacked the conveniences of tools we have today, so they really earned their meals, but we don't have that hard life to work our food off.
I am speaking from my personal experience. I am WELL aware of the realities of gluten, since my daughter has had to be gluten free since before it was trendy due to illness. By avoiding gluten, (wheat flour, modified food starch, etc. found even in such things as vinegar) many people find that they reduce their carb intake as a result, and this often and in my case, led to weight loss.
The book Wheat Belly is interesting. The Q has a few good gluten-free recipe books.

The yoplait is not full of sugar. If you get the lite it i only around 16 grams and as a diabetic you can count it as a carb or protein. The regular is high so I buy thee light.

I wanted to check for sure, since high fructose is definitely bad. I've got FAGE in the fridge. No high fructose thank goodness. I compared the Yoplait light on their website. They are 90 calories as opposed to FAGE 0% at 0 calories. Generally the sugars seemed to be at around 10grams as opposed to FAGE which is 0. They generally have 5 or so grams of protein as opposed to FAGE at 16grams. Several grams less carbs and less sodium for FAGE. Check it out for yourself. It's pretty good.

I lost weight via low carbing, but if nothing else, you can eliminate some of the worst carbs.
White flour, rice, sugar, high-carb fruits and veggies, and something I learned long ago, no drinks with any major calories.
Good luck!

You could check out www.graze.com, it's like a beauty box subscription but instead of makeup etc. they send snacks. Each box (4 snacks per box) is $6 and you determine how often you want them delivered.
The 1st & the 5th box are free. Not only that, they have a complete list where you can pick & chose what you want. If you get something you don't like, you go in & check off "Never send again." Each snack comes with complete nutritional information.
Best of luck to you! I've never had to diet but my son has battled weight problems all his life so I do empathize.

I lost 20lbs years ago and have never gained it back by giving up sugar. Its not hard and you will never go back to sweets again. I never felt better. This is a lifestyle change. I now load up on plain greek yogurt and put fresh fruit in it. I would rather eat a piece of fruit than any sweet dessert its better for you body and you'll like the way you look.
