No, but I think making a donation is much better than wasting so much water, especially when there is drought in some parts of the country, and people in need around the world~

I agree.

I believe most people are doing both.

If it gets people talking and starts a buzz and generates funds for a good cause, I am all for it.

Just read that they've raised over $15 million dollars with this challenge.Smiley Happy Amazing. Far outweighs any ""waste"" of water that some see.

33 million gallons of water DAILY are being wasted in California on the ice bucket challenge. Please donate money and save our water.

Re: O/T ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Unfortunately, due to the ALS Foundation's stance on a certain kind of research, I will not participate. TBTB won't allow me to be specific, or my post will be yanked. For those who are like me, we can participate by helping a local ALS family in some way.

Re: O/T ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

It not as though anyone is going to ship water to drought regions in the U.S. or any other country. I think it is a brilliant idea. It sheds a great spotlight on a little known disease. Having had family members perish with this disease, I fully support it this challenge. If it only raises awareness, it's a good thing. Because it is also raising millions of dollars, it's a great thing.

Re: O/T ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

If you're worried about the amount of water used (I don't know, here in Va it's been raining for what seems like days) you could even take a cup and pour it over someone's head (I saw that done several times).

I'm all for anything that raises money for a good cause. I know of (no personally) someone who died from this. I understand it is a terrible disease. It brings it out into the light.
