Not a matter of "I don't care; I love it" for me. I just think it wakes things up a bit. Totally matte looks dry looking to me. (Lauren Hutton didn't do us any favors.)
I often reach for Laura's Baked Eye Dreams in Sandbar, or I will use Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector on my eyes -- both flesh tones that brightens up your look.

Any makeup that contains
"sparkle" is not for me. I think it is more for youngsters. I don't want someone to look at me and notice my MU - I want them to look at me & think I look nice today, not gee - look at her Make up. I don't wear MU that draws attention to itself.

As long as you don't end up looking like the Tin Man, My Pretty Pony or a Pixie Fairy, I say go for it!

May I weigh in on this issue? Shimmers, highlighters, iridescent makeup on eyes, face or cheeks has its place. That said, at any age, it will draw attention to any area where it is used.
If your lids are smoothe, no creases/wrinkles, have at it & enjoy. Still want to try it? Use a matte shadow & place a dot of shimmer shadow in center of eyelid.
For our faces, iridescent makeup and shimmer blush, etc. will exaggerate larger pores. Not your issue, go ahead and try it out. Shimmer lipstick can appear dated. Try your usual lip color w/ a bit of shimmer gloss in center of bottom lip.
There’s a reason these trends are not recommended for us who are 50 and over. Of course, a recommendation is not the same as NO. Feel free to experiment, but check it out in different light sources and in a magnifying mirror before making a final decision if OK for you.
The fact that it’s called the “unicorn collection” would tip me off that it’s too young for me.

The problem: I'm 60 years old. I tend to think I am younger so love the newly popular shades of eyeshadow and lipstick/gloss that come with iridesscence. I love shimmers (not glitter), but feel I am too old now. Any ladies out wear such colours with success? Is it a mater of I dont care, I love it?
I love, love, love shimmer! I am older than you and wear Bobbi Brown's shimmer lipstick and shimmer bricks! I think it looks good, and I am the most important person I know!
@fortune Wait...you're over 60? How did I not know this?? Well that means that WHN is probably close to my age. He wouldn't happen to be single, would he?

I often like to use matte colors in the crease and on the browbone and something flashier on the lid. If you want to use these eyeshadows but wonder if they will look like too much, use them on the lid only.
One thing I've found helpful too...shadows like that look better on a smooth lid. Maybelline has an eyeshadow primer that makes the lid look smoother, and it's only $8.
It's called Maybelline Master Prime Long-Lasting Eyeshadow Base Prime + Smooth. If you get it, make sure you get the one that says "Prime + Smooth" and not one of the other two that look similar.

I saw it, and I can't say it's something that interests me.
But I do think that people worry too much about whether or not "a woman of a certain age" should wear certain makeup products. I agree with some of the "rules" and follow them, but I've decided that I'm not going to worry about all of them!!
Woo-hoo!!!

@Shanus, there is nothing worse than seeing crinkly eyelids wearing shimmery shadows. My lids don't appear crepey on their own but the minute I put on a shimmery shadow pow there comes the crinkles! I much prefer to do what you suggested. Just put a dab of shimmer in the center of the lid.

@mistriTsquirrel Beauty “rules” are certainly not the same as traffic rules. They’re guidelines that others have tried & are suggesting what’s best for what age & the condition of your skin. Have fun w/ it. You’re the best judge what looks well on you.
