New trend to Iridescence

[ Edited ]

I'm watching HSN with the Too Faced line on, and they're showing what I call the "unicorn collection". The website has more products, but I love that eyeshadow palette they featured. The problem: I'm 60 years old. I tend to think I am younger so love the newly popular shades of eyeshadow and lipstick/gloss that come with iridescence. I love shimmers (not glitter), but feel I am too old now. Any ladies out wear such colours with success? Is it a matter of I dont care, I love it?

I love, love, love shimmer!  I am older than you and wear Bobbi Brown's shimmer lipstick and shimmer bricks!  I think it looks good, and I am the most important person I know!  wink.jpg

@LisaMofSLC- I'm 54 and can do shimmer / iridescence all day long.  My age doesn't prevent me from wearing certain makeup.  If I look good, then I wear it.   So, I say go for it!

Re: New trend to Iridescence

I just took a look at the eyeshadow and I think it looks great. Everything in moderation is my motto, and I sure don't think it's out of line. I think you need to try it and work with it, but it sure isn't garrish! I'm older than you, and I get tired of the same old neutrals I use all the time. I say go for it! It's beautiful! After seeing earlier posts about blue eyeshadow, I may even check that out!

Re: New trend to Iridescence

Shimmer yes ... iridescence no.

I only wear smokey brown eye shadow ... no other colors and no shimmer.  I wear glasses and for a number of reasons I don't want to call any attention to my eyes.

But - for lipstick, I do like a bit of shimmer.  I have tubes of "gold" and "silver" shimmer that I bought years ago, and I have some Avon Glazewear lip gloss.  I frequently use one of those over my generally neutral colored lipstick.  Not so much for the color but the slight shimmer.

I mixed my own finishing powder and included a box of Almay Shimmer in the mix.  Basically - it was just merging my collection of transluscent powder into one container and mixing in the shimmer.  No color .... and a barely noticeable shimmer.  The Almay Shimmer on it's own was a bit too much ... but mixed in the powder - it's very subtle.

Almay no longer makes the Shimmer ... but I bought bought a bunch of them when they came out years ago.  I still have two unopened in my stash.

(PS ... I'm older than you)

Not my style....but if it is your heart's desire, why deny yourself.  Whether it is attractive or not is subjective....so if you love it, own it!

@LisaMofSLC

Purchase and wear what you love.  Do not be intimidated by the fashion police.

That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it!
