@Icegoddess  You look fantastic! Your stylist did a great job. The staying power of a perm (in regards to,your friend) depends on the specific perm used, the rod size and the processing time. I'm getting a body wave in 2 weeks, as I'm sick of having to blow dry and curling iron my hair. Anyway....you look wonderful!

@Effie54 Can't say about the perm she uses.  I know she currently uses Tressa Zone Control, but she has used other perms in the past since I've been getting them for years and a few years ago the one she used required sitting under a dryer.  This one doesn't.  She uses fairly large perm rods on me, the largest ones are orange and the next largest are a more peachy sand color.  I know they can vary by brand, looking at rod size charts, the ones that most closely correspond to the rods used are the 11/16 and 12/16-inch sizes.  she uses a few other sizes in the mix too I think, but I didn't really pay that much attention to that.

Regardless, I've never had any perm fall out, even the bad one I got decades ago during the Farrah years when I wished it had.  Who knows what they used on me back then.  They all do loosen up a bit after the first month though.

My hairdresser sometimes refers to my perms as a body wave.  I'm just happy not to have to spend the time styling it especially since I'm home most of the time, but even so I want my hair to look nice.

OP--you have my dream hair!!! Would love those curls and the color is nice too. Used to get perms all the time--did them at home tho---they lasted a long time, many months. Never had a shop perm.

@Icegoddess  I like the rod size she used for your perm. I'm going with virtually the same rods to give me a wave. It's soft, but a nice curl at the same time. I love it. There are so many proms out there. When I go to the beauty supply store, I'm constantly looking at the newest, latest and greatest. I also had the perm that went under the dryer years ago as well. Those seemed to really hold up! Oh man, I also had one of those uber curly perms years ago as well. I think the stylist thought that that's what I wanted. Um...not so much. I'm sooooo looking forward to having an easier time styling. You look great!! 👍🏻
