Well, I just received an email about another new product from Paula's Choice - a scrub product!  This after years and years of telling customers that a scrub wasn't necessary.  I am really starting to wonder what's happening at Paula's Choice.  She just doesn't seem to be following her own advice anymore.  What's everyone think?

@sueeich

Got the same email. I haven’t used a scrub in years. Not sure I want to try that again since my skin doesn’t seem to respond well to them. I still use and like Paula’s BHA products.

She sold her company so I don't think she has much say in what products are coming up. I believe she only owns a small share of the company. I would think all of the decision making is out of her hands.

Just because something isn't necessary doesn't mean people won't demand it from you and if you're a business and your customers are begging you to make something and you can, you make it to keep their business and make money.

I'm willing to bet you have a house full of things that aren't necessary but that make you happy or add value, even if they aren't a necessity. I think we all do. I don't think there's anything unusual about a company that says you don't need something, but sells it if you want it.

I find chemical exfoliants for the face, like Paula's Choice 2% BHA, to be more effective than scrubs - but sometimes I enjoy a good scrub, too.

What you're saying is very true, but her whole company was founded on the fact that she didn't push skincare products that you didn't need or weren't efficacious.  Seems like Paula's Choice is fast becoming just "another" skin care company.  Nothing sets them apart and that is sad to me as I've been a customer since the very beginnning.  Oh, well. . .

@sueeich, I received the e-mail too. It does address your complaint.

If I were interested in a physical exfoliant, I would try it. It also supposedly removes even stubborn makeup, but I've heard that claim countless times from products.

Re: New Paula's Choice scrub

How interesting. I recall when Paula first came out with her books years ago that she liked baking soda scrubs and hydrogen peroxide to disinfect the skin if you were dealing with acne.

So I recently bought the Biore baking soda scrub and it's fine except for the scent which I don't like at all. So I dumped out the product into the toilet and washed out the bottle as I like the way the product is dispensed since I use it in the shower and don't want the contents of the bottle to get wet. I've refilled the bottle with actual Arm & Hammer baking soda since it's unscented and I'm using it in the shower.

I use BHAs and AHAs but I also like a physical scrub to get rid of the dead skin on my face and body.

@TY- I have never been a big follower of PB.  I tried a couple of her products way back when but didn't think they were anything overly special.  Her advice about using baking soda is very disappointing and I would caution you to reconsidering using it.  It will upset the acid mantle (protective barrier) of your skin.  Continued use results in more damage.

I sounds wonderful but Judas Priest - PC I'm not paying $30 for a cleanser!

It is described as having biodegradable jojoba oil beads, so it doesn't sound too rough. I want to try it but yikes the $$$$.
