I want to point out that I think Hydroshield will FEEL like it's sitting on your skin if you use too much at once. Many people report this in reviews and here and some of them give up on it because of this. This is one of those "less is more" products and if you start with a little, it will absorb well. You can add more if you feel like you need it, but start small.

What gives?
My dermatologist says it's from women today using too many harsh actives causing irritation. Irritation disturbs the acid mantle of the skin which serves as a protective barrier against bacteria among other things. Women today also tend to use more layers of product on the face which can clog pores. I also personally believe that the added hormones in our dairy and meat industry contribute to the problem.

I think that what gives is an incorrect perception. Adult acne has always been a thing and the idea that it only happens to teenagers has always been a thing, too.

For some reason, after I hit submit, this post came blank. Retyped it below. Ugh.

Actually, silicones don't absorb into skin at all, the molecules are too large. That's why they are used in primers and wrinkle fillers, they act like spackle smoothing over the creases and crevices.
For some people, silicones help to seal in moisture and give a smooth, matte finish. For other people, like me, silicones cause greasiness and breakouts. If I use a silicone based serum or primer, my skin looks like it has been encased in plastic wrap and my pores seem magnified. Even if I use just a smidge. (I'm a less is more girl and never slather on lots of product.)

I have tried many and liked the Alpha Hydrox line but the moisturizer just so so. Used Dr. Denese, liked it but not wild about it or the price, Hope in a Jar is nice, and Acure products are reasonable priced but results are minimal. I think I have finally found the one to stick to which is the Avon Anew Platinum line. It is for skin over 60 and I LOVE the night cream and just ordered the day cream. Skin is soft and firm, especially in the jowl area. Reasonable price, goes on sale a lot and you can get trial sizes for $12.00. I also use their Clinical line erase and my deep chest lines are much improved. I am not an Avon Lady, lol, just always looking for good results at a good price point and this is it. I am seeing the same results with the night cream as I did with a very expensive Lancôme crème which I gave up due to the price of over $100. That is just crazy. Give it a whirl and let us know what you think.

However, as of late, it's not working. I don't want a moisturizer that sits on my skin. I need it to penetrate and live a nice soft feel - not sticky. I'm 67 years old, have combination skin that turns oily if the moisturizer is too heavy.
I tried Skinn, but I think this line is for women with dry skin so had to send everything back.
I exfoliate 2-3 times a week and use Vanicream to cleanse my face. It is very gentle and doesn't contain chemicals.
Of course, I'd like to keep it economical, but will pay for good results.
Ok, ladies, let me hear from you!
try the Olay micro sculpture serum and or moisturizer in the red jar. I always used regenerist but switched to microsculpture and love it. I have both the serum (use under foundation) and moisturizer in the red jar that I use at night time.
doglover - I'm a canine lover too!
Thanks for reminding me. Those OOO micro sculpt products are 'on the list' next to try after I finish this jar of Cream Reverse (which I do like a lot, though it's on the pricey side )
I don't mind paying more for some of the products which keep my skin tip-top, but feel I can get by spending much less on other good moisturizers.
our family doctor's sister is a derm doctor and said this is all she has ever used, OOO and now their microsculpture serum and cream/moisturizer. She has everyone in our doctors office using this now and all but those with very oily skin say they love this.
I too don't mind paying for something I think does the job and is worthwhile but as she said, CR did a test on high end moisturizers and found this beat out those costing over $250 a jar for 1 ounce, works for me that's for sure.
