Need help with Wen pumps

I got the five piece TSV. So far I've only gotten one of three pumps open so far. Push and turn both ways, pull and turn both ways, what am I doing wrong? I had this problem with Perlier once, and someone here helped me out. DH is out of town and I obviously have no mechanical sense whatsoever.
