Need Curling Iron Recommendations

Hello Ladies! I'm hoping some of you can help me out. I am in need of a new curling iron. I've had the same curling iron for 10 years or so. I am completely out of touch with all the newest technology on the market. I have curly hair that I like to style somewhat straight with just a small amount of curl. I use a 1-inch barrel now to pull out the curl. I'm not looking to buy the most expensive on the market. Any recs?

Also, what heat protectants do you recommend? Thank you!

@MissMaggieMoo  You would probably get more responses if you posted this to the Beauty forum.

I hope you'll get some good responses now that it's in the Beauty forum.  I don't use a curling iron so can't help you.

Re: Need Curling Iron Recommendations

I have gotten amazing  results from the ones I get at Sally's Beauty!  The one I have now is SO good, I had the foot it stands on to totally deteriorate!  It's over 15 yrs old and still going strong!

It's a Helen Of Troy professional.

I bought mine from Sally,'s called Hot Tools, and I love it!!!! Several temperature controls and easy to use....My daughter also uses this brand, they have several sizes to choose from and not too expensive!

@ECBG Thanks ECBG! I actually have this H of T curling iron in the 1/4" barrel. I haven't used it in a several years now. The curls are just too tight.

@CANDLEQUEEN Thanks Candlequeen! I believe the one I have now (1" barrel) is a Hot Tools curling iron. I'm going to have to revisit this line the next time I'm at Sally's. I love Sally's!

I, too, have two different Hot Tools curling irons...the 1" and the 3" barrels.  They are extremely good beauty aides and I got mine at Ulta Beauty when they were having their Christmas Sale with my 20% off the sale price.  Keep looking for the coupons and watch the sales and you can get a good deal.

@MissMaggieMoo,    I have the Calista roller iron with teeth and it's just okay.  I would recommend Chi.  Their products are awesome. Perhaps you can get a deal at ULTA with discount or coupon.   Cat Very Happy  P.S.  A couple of weeks ago, I purchased Bumble & Bumble All-Style that is a heat protectant, gives volume and shine too.  It's a creme so you have more control with the product.  I will definitely purchase again.
