Natural deoderants ....my experience...

I have long been on the search for a good natural deoderant that works.  I used the solid stone crystal deoderant that turned my armpits black and then found one that I thought was wonderful and used until they discontinued it.  However that one had alum stone which I guess may be aluminum too.  I used many of the deos that were recommended (Schmidts, Lavanilla......) and nothing worked for me.  I would smell in just a couple of hours.  It was awful.  I got this deoderant from Sephora called biosannce (prob not spelled correct).  It said it would take 4 or more weeks to detox.  I believed that they were just wanting me to keep it past return date.  However I kept washing pits every few hours and reapplying for weeks and weeks and finally the smell went away.  Now I am using equate (Walmart brand) deoderant aluminum free and I do not smell.  Sometimes if I sweat during the night I might have a slight BO the next morning.  I must admit that I am not working so am not around people all day so I could do this experiment.  Also if going to the doctor or something stressful I have a back up of a deoderant with alum stone just to feel safe.  However I cannot believe the difference.  I really used to smell awful when using a non aluminum deoderant.  I guess maybe the detox thing was right.

@chiclet

Interesting thoughts on natural deodorants.

Since I had electrolysis many years ago, I rarely use a deodorant.  It may be the absence of any hair that helped me.  Found a reasonably priced professional who did the work in her home:  that was my gift to me.  No shaving anymore !.  And, no daily eyebrow tweezing.

@jlkz I had Laser done!  Isn't it awesome?  Best thing I ever did for myself.

@chiclet As far as an aluminum free deodarant , I had to use one when going through radiation treament.  I used Tom's of Maine, it worked okay but it is hard to find one that really works well.  Good luck!  Maybe try an organic market.

Try NATIVE.  I like the coconut and vanilla.

Re: Natural deoderants ....my experience...

My friend has a medical condition that causes her to sweat exclusively. Nothing worked for her and I felt badly for her because she always had a bit of bo all the time...and she knew that. So one day she came to me and said that she was going to go to a derm and have Botox injections. I said "Really??" , thinking it was for wrinkles but it was actually for her arm pits. Today she is happy that she did that and continues to go for the Botox about once a year. It's expensive!

I tried a natural deodorant that worked.....PiperWai. It was featured and got a deal on the Shark Tank. It took a really long time to get it to me because they were sold out and backordered after their appearance on the TV show. Think it was around three months before I got it. They earned over $1.3 million after their first month!

It is made with charcoal. The only reason I stopped using it after a year was because all they had at the time was like cream in a jar and I found that messy to deal with. I prefer a  dry stick.

Barbara Cocoran was the shark who financed the two gals, but it was predicated on the fact that they would eventually put the product into a stick form, which they agreed to do. I haven't checked back to see if they have done that or not.

Oh! Just checked. They now have it in stick form. YAAAY!

If you want to check it out, go to PiperWai dot com. Maybe be more than you want to pay, but for me it did work well.

It is vegan, cruelty-free, and made in America.

Their site says that GNC carries it.

@Drlinda...I just started using Native. I really like it so far, but it’s not like I do any strenuous activity that makes me sweat, so I probably haven’t really put it to the test.

I use Arm & Hammer Essentials.  It works great and costs around $3.00 at Wal-Mart. 😊

@World Traveler...I may have to try that brand next if Iend up being underwhelmed with the Native . I just haven’t used it long enough to know how well it works.
