Awhile back I had taken my acrylics off and and with your suggestion I used Nailtiques

formula 2.

The nails were doing well ---my problem was cracked, peeling and one nail that split.

I had serious surgery and my nails were forgotten in all my recovery time and rehab etc.

Now I don't know if I should use nailtiques formula 2 or 2 plus, or QVC ProAdvanced Floride Nail Strengthner with Vitamin Complex.

I also had acrylic nails...and it took awhile to get my natural nails back.  I have had great success with Sally Hanson Moisture Rehab Strengthener.  I found that I needed the moisture to get rid of the brittleness...otherwise my nails would split and chip.  Another great find was a chamois nail buffer from Sally Beauty Supply.  It smooths the nails and gives a nice natural sheen.  No polish needed.  These two products are my go to favorites.   Affordable and they work.

I have had some health problems and here's the list of what got my nails healthy:

T.I.P.S--sesame oil- a drop all around the nail bed and cuticle and over the nail.

A>S>K.--Best conditioning, non drying polish revmover

Perfect Formula gel coat----great as a nail protecter, base/top coat / or stand alone polish

Pro Strong---Nail polish  and line of nail correctors, protectors and conditioners. Products absorb in seconds.

Any combination of these or single selection should deliver results. I could not believe the relief and results I've had.

i hope you have the same luck.

I had acrylics last year and it ruined my nails. After I took them off, I used Perfect Formula Nail Polish just to give them strength. I also use Sally Hansen's Vitamin E on my cuticles every day. The bad part of my nails had to grow out. I use Perfect Forumla or OPI nail polish now.

Recommend Nailtiques formula 2 plus, if you are starting over so to speak.  Formula 2 is for maintenance (as I understand it).

Either one is a great product -- I have never head such good nails, in my life.

@Suxela. @Pancho. I've taken the Lessman formula...already had great hair, no effect on nails.  I also took big doses of biotin for over a year and no change.  I think the only way you'll have great nails is if they're in your genes.  I don't know why some of these scientists working on complex space projects can't divert and concentrate on improving fingernails.

@Jamma My nails break easily, and split when I apply any nail polish type product on them.  I took Andrew Lessman's Nail, Skin and Hair vitamins for years, and it did nothing for my hair or nails.  I then took Biotin for years, and it did nothing for my hair or nails.  Same as @Kachina624.  Throughout the years, I have applied several strengthening polish type products (like perfect nails and others) and they also did nothing for my nails.  I think a good varied diet helps (I have improved my diet and my nails are better with regard to ridges), moisturizing helps. I use Josie's pure Argan oil, more recenly the Milk, and/or Wen Six Thirteen Ultra Nourishing Intensive Body Treatment on my hands and nails, including massaging and lightly pushing the cuticles.  I have nice looking hands and nails, with very slight ridging.  The nails still break, but not as ofen.  I keep them not too long, groomed and filed, and this seems to works best for me.  I ocassionally get a full manicure with nail polish at a salon, but my nails will break and peel more readily.  So just moisturizing, grooming them to medium length, filing and light buffing keeps them at their best.  Everyone always comments how soft my hands are, which I don't think they would say if my nails were unsightly.  So I am resigned to short groomed nails, happy with the low maintenance.  Still go for color maniure ocasionally.  I do full pedicures on my feet during the summer to wear sandals, because toenails look so much better with color.  My toenails don't have the breaking splitting issues my hand nails have.  I guess it's all the handwashing that causes the problems with nails.  Pedicures last 2-3 weeks, manicures 3-4 days if I am lucky.

@NYCLatinaMe

Thank you so much for the information---I shall do the moisturizing bit.  I do eat a healthy diet.  Again thanks for taking the time to help me.
