Hello Lovelies, and Happy Saturday!
Has everyone been enjoying their third week of summer? Just when it could be getting super-hot here in the high desert, our monsoon season clouds start to roll in almost every afternoon and cool things down. This usually results in somewhat higher humidity too, but when you're starting at 10-20% relative humidity, that's not really so bad. We had over an inch of rain from several showers at our house, so we are happy.
For those who have been awaiting my report on the OPI "Glitter Off" base coat, I did remove it last night. "Kinda strange" for me to be peeling off polish, since I'm totally conditioned to never do that, no matter how much fun it is. Since this was a pedi, I didn't worry too much about damaging the nail surface. I started from the base of each nail, lifting the polish with a manicure stick and then just peeled -- it usually came off in one or two pieces. I really can't say if it would be harder on nails than the acetone soak-off method, but I guess my next test will be under a glitter mani. The polish had been on at least two weeks and wasn't really in need of removal (no chips or lifting), but I wanted to do another pedi so I took it off. Who's to say whether the polish stayed on so well because of the base coat or because glitter polish has great staying power.
On to this week's mani. I began with my usual base coat of Nailtiques Formula 2, then Essie "Fiji", 2 coats, and Seche Vite top coat. I taped off French tips and applied one coat of Essie "Penny Talk", a great copper / rose-gold metallic and finished with another coat of S.V. Many compliments on this one, although, once again, my pink wasn't quite the same as the inspiration mani I was trying to duplicate, so I wasn't completely happy with it myself. Yes, I do suffer from "perfectionist-ic tendencies"!
Have a great week and paint your nails!

Wow! So pretty Lola, love the simplicity/timelessness of a new take on the French manicure.

Hi Andreatoo, yes, all the Essie Metals Collection have great one-coat coverage. I have all of them except maybe the blue. They can be a little tricky to apply because they dry so quickly and show up any imperfections in the nail. If I'm using it as the base color, I apply Nfu-Oh "Aqua Base" base coat which seems to make application easier.
Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

Hello maestra, thanks, wearing this did feel "simple", and it couldn't have been easier to do.

The first thing I thought when I saw this was:
This is a total pink and copper 1950s retro vibe! That color combo was super popular -- I love it!
I really like this one! You need to pair it with a sloe gin fizz!

I love this look! I love all things copper.

Such a lovely color combo!

Well just bee, you found quite the collection of examples! I remember copper kitchen appliances, but had missed the pink - copper. Sloe Gin Fizz was my favorite cocktail in the 60's! I liked mine made with diet Sprite ...
As has been said, everything old is new again.
