I can't remember where I read it but a NIRA rep wrote that they do not recommend using their lasers directly on the lips but only around the lips. The reasons were that, since the lips have thin delicate skin, NIRA lasers are not designed to treat that kind of skin so it can cause hyperpigmentation and damage to the underlying lip tissue itself. Don't do it.
If you do decide to use NIRA on your lips, what you'll see is an initial inflammatory reaction which would appear to make the lips fuller. But in fact that is only temporary and there could be damage. Any time there is inflammation, that means it's not a good thing and the body will react to inflammation in not-so-good ways.

Thanks @SilleeMee I have decided to contact a plastic surgeon regarding my lower lip disappearing (rolling inward) to get it fixed. I don't want bigger lips, just my lower lip back. It's a thin lip look I've seen on a lot of older women and I know there's a solution. My upper lip is fine as it is. I do not want the "flip" I've seen where you have more of your inner mouth/lip area exposed to make lips look larger.
Otherwise, very happy with my NIRA Pro+. I have a Red LIght neck unit so I now use it to treat under my jaw too. It's flexible enough to pull up and put the neck wraps up the sides of my lower face. I added a longer hook and loop strap that I secure over my head to hold the sides in place. Covers the area that the new Current Body 2 would treat.

A while back I consulted a derm about a lip filler. My lips are very, very thin b/c the AI disease I have caused them to shrink and then 'smokers' lines' have also developed all around them. I hate it. So my derm said she could do the filler but with that comes a lot of extended and persistent pain b/c of the AI condition. She said she had filled other patients with the same AI and most of them regret it so I won't be doing a lip filler. I've come to accept my 'pencil lips', as my friend has called them (thank you friend
, and now I'm pretty good at faking a good set of lips with lip liners and lippies. That's as good as it's gonna get.

@SilleeMee I understand and relate to your issue. I also have some lines over my upper lip, but I can live with those. The weird thing is that my lower lip is there, just kind of "rolled inward" . There are times when I lower my sweat meds and my lip is there, but then it dries out, deflates some and disappears. Any way, going to check it out. I talked to a derm about it and she recommended I see a plastic surgeon. I really don't want fillers so we will just have to see what is possible. My husband is supportive of me checking it out as long as I don't get "duck lips" which I promised I won't do!

@Jk9 wrote:@mimi5775 I totally agree with @SilleeMee and recommend using both devices. I use them both because they are developed for different reasons as @SilleeMee described. I use them both every day and my skin has improved.
I have the Precision, Pro and Pro+ NIRA's. I thought my Pro had died, but it started working again after I ordered the Pro+. I would have the Pro+ if I only had one NIRA,
@Jk9 Meant to say thanks so much for your input as well as Sillimee's help I thanked her. well, I sent back the Currentbody mask..ugh that cumbersome mask from Q. It was a hassle with no clsoe skin contact unless laying down and pressing my hands over the face in rotation lol.. could not stand it TBH. Glad it's gone lol only used 6 times or so. Will be looking into a new face LED red light mask just unsure which is best. Current body series 2 perhaps if it fits! it looks like it's "molded" more for a face. Have a good day and you guys help a lot. PS: that NIRA Pro+ looks like you have to hold it and I went to their site. But off to bed no time to look. I'll check it out. Sounds very good as long as it doesnt melt subq fat. My fear. I know I know...it's ok but I am scared I lost so much fat with stress since my son died and I need fat in my upper body like I'm an incredibale shrinking woman. But trying hard to keep my skin good while aging it's something in my life I promised to myself - it's my self care. Have a good day!
