Looking current is not necessarily better than embrassing a conservative look

I think she looked elegant and poised. Nothing wrong with that. Her dresses she had on during her presentations looked stunning. Maybe from the 60's like some posted but who cares she is soft spoken and she is proud of what she sells. She even made some of the hosts stand back and did not interrupt her.

I was taken aback the first time I saw her on the air, but I've become used to her style now. She does look like she's stepped out of a time warp, but her classiness stands out in contract to the hosts she's paired with (LOL). I do love the Nest fragrances I've tried. (I bought the Dahlias and Vines as I havent tried that yet). I hope the TSV sold well, as I'd like to see all the Nest fragances on the Q! (not all of them are).

Sorry, but what you picked as a counterpoint does not represent current style. There have always been outliers or people who like to push the envelope.
There are many beautiful current styles that, IMO, look fresher and more approachable than the stilted and extremely dated persona that Ms. Slatkin has chosen.
But seeing that the majority view her as elegant and very classy and that they then might connect those qualities with her products, it just might have been a very wise decision.

It was very much the style back then. My sisters, both several years older than I, both wore their hair with the bangs like Laura Slatkin's. One sister had long hair that she'd either put up in a bun or French twist. The other wore her hair shorter, but still did the bang thing. I was watching the movie "Charade" the other night (a favorite of mine) and Audrey Hepburn's bangs were similar. Re: Riverview, Southsider here. My sisters used to go there with friends or on dates. I was too young, so I missed out.
JLF ,you are from Chicago? Me too, Northwest side. My brothers lived at Riverview, I really dont remember it..
As for the Nest fragrance, I am very curious about it...

Her look is called "CLASSIC." The reason she looks strange to some is because today's people dress more trendy instead of classic.

@MrsCat21 - I was born and grew up on the Southside, but that didn't stop me from being a lifelong Cubs fan. When my family left the city limits, we moved to the south suburbs. My DH and I stayed in the region for awhile, but then we moved to NW Indiana. My DH still commutes downtown for work. It's a good thing he likes his job!

I see lots of people wearing faded ripped jeans and similar jeans for sale.

Yes. That doesn't negate my point, though.
I just don't equate "classic" or "elegant" or other such terms with only one style of dress or one or two decades of fashion years ago.
