I thought a brighter color might distract attention to my ugly hands...but I'm not liking it on myself.   My hands are so unbefitting to my petite body.  They've always looked rough, terrible nails, like work hands.    Personally I like off white colors, clean but they are  not enough to stand out.  Now fall season is here, and I love color, but not so on me.   Should I just stay with a French manicure, creamy white colors?...or or is better to add color to pop??

I do my Manis and pedis myself (I was a nail tech, make up artist years back) but I will go occasionally to get them done.  I just seem to be high maintenance in those areas, and not really liking much I choose...so, please send along your suggestions...ugly hands😔.

I have no suggestions for you, but your post broke my heart just a tiny bit.

It sounds like you are a talented woman and the idea that you would feel that way about your hands seems you are being too hard on yourself.

I just can't believe they are as bad as you say, especially if you are keeping them manicured with or without color.

I have never had nice nails except when I wore acrylics. my nails don't grow (despite Biotin), split, and have deep grooves. 

just rec'd the glass mani-pedi set on air a few minutes ago. had low expectations: I knew it would work for my feet (it DOES!!) but didn't believe it would do anything for my ridged nails. WRONG! 

just like the demo, you get a glass (pun) finish on the nails! cleaned up my cuticles and left the nails smooth and super shiny. even with my ridges!?!?!?! amazing. 

so, no more polish, which dries out the nails and adds to nail woes. try this, I am gobsmacked at how amazing this set is.

i, too, have unattractive hands...psoriasis and arthritis...i don't wear any polish....i don't want to draw attention to my hands.....occasionally i buff my nails......you were confident enough to be a nail tech.....i think you're being hard on yourself.........

@Dazlin i agree with @Witchy Woman.  recommend you concentrate on the dry skin issue, moisturize, cuticle oil,  wear gloves when dish washing or cleaning.  i can't grow any length of fingernail and nail color is hard to maintain.  i polish toes in sandal weather.  choose the shade that makes you happy. for me, it's usually some shade of coral.  i like OPI polishes.  Even when I polish fingernails, its normally a barely there shade. Just a reply to encourage you to be kind to yourself.

@Dazlin    While you may think your hands are ugly, I bet no one else has noticed or thought that.  You are way too hard on yourself.  Pick whatever color that makes you smile and rock it!

Funny, I am 69, and feel just the opposite, so many things about my appearance make me unhappy, but my hands and nails are by far my best feature. I have long, strong, natural nails and hands with no wrinkling or age spots. I am so proud of them, still getting compliments, and nice feet too. We all have our crosses to bear. If there are certain colors that you really love, just wear them and wear them proudly!!! I like very pale in summer, dark reds in winter.

I think dark colors attract the eyes to the pretty colors, not the hands.

I love wearing dark colors but they are hard to maintain, more than clear or lighter colors.

I use Sally Hanson's instadry that comes in a sort of triangle bottle. This stuff goes on so well and stays so long. It is a pleasure to use.The brush is flat so the polish sticks to it and goes on your nail instead of dripping like so many, even OPI and Etsy or any expensive polish. You may have used these. Rimmel had one too.

It is fun and a pick you up to look at your pretty colors so yes like others have said, Rock those colors you like best!

You might be surprised that it's not ones' hands but the nails that bring attention.  

Keep your hands moisturized and apply a pretty color something you like.

I like a pop of color so well groomed nails go a long way.

We all exaggerate our own flaws, and we think others see us that way too. I bet your hands are just fine. I like to wear a neutral like Essie Waltz. It's not a stark white, but rather a soft sheer white. If you like it more opaque just put on 3 coats. I think the neutral tone elongates the hand, and it doesn't accentuate flaws if we have them.
