My thoughts on the Josie Maran recent TSV perfume scents

[ Edited ]

Hi all.  I was SO excited when I heard Josie had created 3 new perfumes!  As a huge fan of her body butters, I was eagerly awaiting my purchases.  Yes, I ordered all three scents - she hooked me as she described each one and I couldn't wait to receive them.

Well 2 of the 3 sets arrived today.

Vanilla Wafer - Meh, it's ok.  It's a sweet light scent.  Nothing to write home about.  I will keep it because I don't mind the scent and it did leave my skin moisturized where I sprayed it.  I didn't really smell much scent in the body butter which is a bummer because I like to layer my perfumes/creams for longer lasting scent.  Kinda disappointed as I was most looking forward to this one

Unscented - OMG!  Can I just say ELMERS GLUE??!!  Horrible!!  I was shocked - I actually washed it off and packaged it up for return already.  Ugh! What a horrible smell.  To my nose it smelled just like Elmer's glue - very sour smelling.

I'm awaiting the Sweet Holly.  Very curious about this one...i'm hoping for the best...

EDITED TO ADD: The longer I wear the vanilla wafer, the more I'm not liking it...

@K9mom I'm shocked by your description of the unscented! I too love Josie's body butters and argan oil. I have some of her coconut water eye shadows as well, all good stuff.

I ordered the vanilla and the sweet holly for gifts. I hope I'm not disappointed.

Wait, am I understanding this correctly- she has an unscented perfume? That doesn't really make sense to me?

I have been very disappointed in most of Josie's products- I think her coconut shadows, facial cleansing "oil" (more like a gel, imo),  and mascara  are awful. The milk burned my skin. The body butter scents almost never smell like the name implies although I like the way they perform but I no longer buy them because I don't like the scents. The color sticks have a terrible eucalyptus scent and feel in them.

I used to LOVE her eyeshadow palettes and face palettes she did many years ago. It is too bad her products have actually gone downhil over the years. I had so much hope for her line.

@HappyDaze  You heard that right - an unscented perfume!  It was advertised to have honey, Orange Blossom, vanilla, heliotrope, and petitgrain notes - even though it is called "unscented".  I don't detect any of these notes however, I was hoping to smell the orange blossom, vanilla and honey.  It actually has a rancid scent!

Re: My thoughts on the Josie Maran recent TSV perfume scents

I received the TSV kit today too, and got the Vanilla Wafer perfume.

And I said the same thing about it too... Meh Ok.

I was hoping for something a little more magical? more creamy? Some additional notes perhaps?  I dunno, it's seems to be a pretty straightforward linear scent to me.  And doesn't seem to last that long either.  That being said, it reminds me more of a body spritz or spray, rather than an actual perfume.

Also the color of the pale lipstick does NOT do a thing for me / my coloring at all.  Washes me out when I applied it on.

The rest of the items in the kit I'm happy with.

Her products just don't work for me, and thought that her TSV would most likely be just "meh" as well.

@Mesmerized169 YES!  I was left wanting more!  It's nothing special, and by now I cannot even smell the perfume, which is only a few hours later.  I get more bang for my buck from Bath & Body fragrances.  Very disappointed - thinking I might return the Vanilla set back too.

@AKgirl2 I do really like her butters and scrubs.  Was so hoping for the perfumes to be special, but to me they don't make the cut.

@K9mom ~ so many people do, and I'm glad that they work for you!  It's so nice to have and use products we enjoy.  Are you going to return due to sub par perfume scents?
