I don't think mine has closed yet. Single mom and rents a station so in a room with one other guy and that's it. I have short brown hair. I told my daughter, who lives on the other end of the state, the next time I see you I will have long grey hair!

On the other hand I have stocked up on Root touch up to hold me until the crisis ends.
I understand you may be happy because you wouldn't want them to be sick but I am sure THEY are not happy to lose their source of income.
When you own your own business, you typically do NOT qualify for unemployment.
The loss of tips alone could severly cripple the finances of the staff. Tips sometimes are 'under reported' thus lowering their benefits.
The relief legislations haven't even been passed yet and they may be facing zero money coming in for an undetermined length of time.
Limiting the amount of clients and extreme sanitizing might have been a better choice? However, some states such as CT have made it mandatory.

I understand what you are saying but the self-employed person will be in a situation for awhile, some can only do it for a short period of time. This is just like the government shut down and some people are still trying to recover from that. As for the check they are talking about , if they do what they did in the pass it was based on a tax return and their iincome. Everyone thought they were getting a check and some never did, because it was based on their taxable income. I was doing taxes at the time so i want to see how this will be done. I hope everyone get a check, because not everyone got the full amount. I hope everyone stay safe but the working poor and those with no paid leave will have a crisis on their hand.

Not if everyone’s confined to their homes 😉

DH's stylist texted that he was to text when he got to the parking lot, wait for her to let him in, and could not bring anyone else with him to the salon. Interesting, but cautious!!

Haven't done my own hair in years, but will have to start now. Salon is closed. Plus we are to "shelter in place" for 2-3 weeks.

I called my salon today. They're open for now. They're not taking walk-ins and doing sanitizing after each client so they are limiting the amount of traffic in the salon. She said this is what they're doing for now, but things could change anyday. I'm going to try and get a cut while I can. I do my own color so I'm good.

I'm lucky in that I can color my own hair (root touchups) and I also trim my own hair as well. I have a stash of hair color so I won't run out for at least 3 months or so. I need to do a root touchup every 7-10 days as my hair doesn't hold color at the roots very well.
I also color my husband's hair so I can do that as well.
