I just got back from the Dr. (plastic surgeon) for a follow up appointment from botox. It was to take pictures. He does this on all of his patients, so he can see the befores and afters. I got 28 units my 1st visit for my 11's. Today he said I am one of the rare patients that needed additional botox. I had to get 10 more units. He charges $10. a unit, but today only charged me for 6 instead of the 10 that I got. He told me he doesn't skimp on injections, but wants to make sure he doesn't give too much. I think I dumbfounded him. Just my luck. Why could I be one of those people that only need 20 units? He said if this doesn't do it I may have to consider injections in my forehead because sometimes the muscles are more connected than usual. This is my interpretation of what he was saying. I sure hope this time works. I feel morally guilty paying for my vanity. When I 1st decided to do this I was thinking it would average $50.00 per month. At this rate it's more like $100.00 a month. I'll have to give up eating and gasoline.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? or am I the only one?

Probably worse than here. You would think in a large city prices would be lower, more competition. My sister lives in Anchorage and pays $300. for frown line. She doesn't even know how many units she gets.

Don't feel guilty! If you look in the mirror and think "I look good!" instead of "Man, those creases make me look angry and fatigued!" - it does amazing thing for your self esteem and spills over into every area of your life. It doesn't matter if people are actually thinking you look angry and fatigued, it matters that YOU feel that way.
I'm at the point where I'm getting closer to biting the bullet and going in for the injections myself -- I'm trying everything to maybe thwart that, but ultimately spending way more money than I would for the injections. So look at all the money you'll save in that area!
If you REALLY have to give up food and gas, then it's not worth it, but if you can make it work, don't you think you'd be much happier?

I pay 500 per area in the city and I only get two areas! so that's 1000 bux a pop, every 4-5 months....and that's separate from the radiesse! but its totally worth it to me to feel good about myself. it definitely makes quite a difference. I don't buy diamonds, or furs or other luxurious things...this is how I am good to myself.

Odd that he would say you would need additional injections if he just did the "11s". And why he charged you for follow-up injections!
My doctor (also a PS) did Dysport in forehead, 11s, outer upper eyes at browbone, crow's feet and corners of lips (to lift the area) He is conservative with the units he used and had me come back for follow-up and if needed would have injected additional units at no charge.

How much time elapsed between your first visit and your return visit?

The very 1st time I botox was in November and they charge $250 per area. This was with a Dermatologist. They told me if in 2 wks I wasn't frozen, to come back and get a $50. touch up. I went back, paid more and then still wasn't frozen. I went called them and told them about the lack of results and that I had already paid an additional amount. The told me to come back the 3rd time for another touch up and they wouldn't charge me.
So 3 months from my original time I decide to switch Drs. This time I see a Plastic Surgeon that does the injections himself. He seems quite thorough and spent quite a bit of time explaining what was involved and what to expect. He even said "if you need touch ups, it's because enough wasn't injected." He was quite surprised that I could still frown. He had already given me 28 units, which is said was slightly more than the average of about 25. He gave me 10 more today. He charge by unit, not area, that is why I had to pay more today. He did give me a 40% discount today, because he didn't give me enough in the 1st place.
I was just wondering if anyone else had a hard time getting numb and if it took a lot for them too?

I just don't understand. Frozen is not always the best look. Does he want to freeze the whole area? Is that what you wanted? It takes 2 weeks for Botox to settle in and have full effect. It peaks at about 1 month. Then every day loosens subtly for another 2 months. You can tell when it is wearing off when you get tingles, and start to "scratch" a bit now and then.
I live in California, and Botox is very competative. I have been going to one of the top surgeons around here for over 10 years. He has been in the business for over 25 years. He does everything in one visit. But he is so muscle oriented, I get an eyelift with Botox but can move or squint if I want too. In other words I look lifted, but have movement.
Webbie won't let me sayitch!!

It could be that your response to Botox some people do not respond well. Or the solutions are diluted...here are some answers:
