Re: Money Saving Beauty Tips

Hello betteb{#emotions_dlg.wub} I love hearing helpful and money saving tips.

This isn't about beauty and you may have read me tell this on a different thread.

When using a SOS pad and not dirty, put in a zip-lock bag, then in the freezer. The pad won't rust when frozen. Thank-You my sweet Mother, I miss you{#emotions_dlg.wub}

Here's a tip I got years ago on these boards. Liquid hand soap can get expensive to buy, especially if you use a lot. So take an empty foaming hand soap bottle, fill about 3/4 full with warm-ish water and 1/4 full of clear (not creamy) body wash in that order, then turn the bottle upside down for a few minutes to mix and voila! A bottle of foaming hand wash for pennies! If you like thinner foam, use more water and less body wash.

I had a lady at Walmart tell me this trick when I was buying foam soap.

Works like a charmSmile

Neat trick, huh? I've used the cheapest Suave body wash and the last of a bottle of expensive Philosophy body wash and it all works like a charm.

I don't buy concealers. I use a cream eyeshadow like Bobbi Brown or Clinique.

I use under my eyes and in the corners of the eye. It stays put then I use a light powder eyeshadow over that.

I don't like regular face powder under my eyes.

Thanks for posting Kati. I have some foaming soap from Bath and Bodyworks. I'll have to save the bottles.

Hi SGH Thanks for the tip about the SOS in the freezer.

Re: Money Saving Beauty Tips

the best eye makeup remover, and a great deal, is Sonia Kashuk Remove. It's only sold at Target, and sells out all the time. When I see it on the shelf, I buy 3 bottles at a time. I think it's still $10.99 for a good sized bottle. Haven't bought it lately and need more!

Re: Money Saving Beauty Tips

The bst most moisturizing makeup remover I use is pure organic coconut oil! I warm a teaspoonful in my hands then massage it all over my face and eyes. It works wonderful for getting all eye makeup off I massage it in all over face and eys for a good three or four minutes then I take a tissue to wipe off most of the oil and makeup. Last I take a really very warm washcloth and go over my face. It removes anything you misses with the tissue and lightly exfoliates leaving your skin baby soft. I then put on any of my serums or creams with actives and wait about 30 min. Then right before I get into bed I smooth a few drops right over everything else. I seems to lock in the products with actives and the adds it's own helpful lipids that keep skin supple I pretty much no longer use commercial cleansers or soaps on my face. The organic coconut oil does it all for me! My skin is much better now

I sometimes do this, too, when it is nearing time to color. Wouldn't you know the grays are always right in front! I have brown hair, so I use brown shadow. I have a long-handled eye shadow brush. I wet it a bit, swirl in the brown shadow and apply lightly at the front where I see the grays coming in. Does the trick! I got this idea when watching Joan Rivers selling a product she created for this purpose. My leftover brown eye shadow works great for pennies!

Re: Money Saving Beauty Tips

-) Homemade deodorant made w/ coconut oil, cornstarch, baking soda & tea tree oil

-) Oil of Olay body wash as a shampoo...very creamy!

-) 'Just for Men' hair dye as eyebrow dye...one box lasts forever

-) Best $ tip....use less makeup. Visualize a heart in the middle of your face...apply makeup in that location only. Eyebrows down to eyes, diagonal to cheeks down to mouth. Anything else looks unnatural.
