It Cosmetics, among others sell CC and BB foundation, showing models with bad skin. The same models year after year, still bad skin. Question, why don't they take care of their skin with a doctor visit, acne medication, something. I know their making a point about coverage, but really the models should do something.

It seems strange to me. Back in the day models had to have near perfect complexions to show cosmetics.

Maybe they have tried lots of things and nothing has helped. It is a very stubborn disease to overcome for some people. I don’t think you should assume that people with acne aren’t taking care of their skin. Comments like yours make those of us with “bad skin” feel like it is our fault.
I struggled with acne for 40 years. I went to a dermatologist & tried several prescriptions. I also tried many OTC brands. I tried things from shopping channels and online. Nothing improved my acne. I was embarrassed by it, especially as I aged.
I finally found the right combo of products that help keep my acne under control, but I am in my mid 50s and still get a pimple from time to time. That is a long time to live with the stigma of acne.

I certainly had no intention to insult anyone.I have breakouts to and I'm in my 60, but the same beautiful models are always shown with problems. I just feel bad for them and the way the presenters are a,ways calling them out. That's all I meant .No insults intended.

Thanks for your reply. I feel bad for them too because I know how I felt when I had bad acne in the past.

I get the feeling they are referring to hormonal acne-prone skin, which is different than acneic skin.

I could've written @wilma's post -- some complexions can never be totally perfected, no matter how hard we try. I still have sensitive skin in my late 60's with occasional breakouts and pimples - just like when I was a teenager. Sometimes it's products I use, food I eat, or just the weather. I keep my complexion scrupulously clean and take excellent care of my skin, but sometimes breakouts happen. Plus, 69 years of very oily skin gave me big pores. Oh boy! The fun just never stops!
I applaud makeup companies for using models with less than perfect skin. Thank you!

Most acne is hormonal. Oily skin is due to a hormone imbalance. Therefore, until they are balanced out, the acne will persist. I suffered from hormonal acne until I was put on spironolactone, which reduced the amount of androgens from testosterone in my system. This is turn led to less oil being produced, which reduced the number of clogged pores and subsequently the acne itself.
IMO most acne cannot be cured 100% but close. It can be managed. However, everyone is different and I have known colleagues and friends that unfortunately did not respond to anything. I still remember all the offensive things people said to me when I suffered with acne. I was told to go home and wash my face, just use alcohol, and what is wrong with you to name a few. My own mother was incredibly harsh and blamed me for it. She was lucky and never had a pimple in her life but was very critical of those that did.
I'm sure those models have tried many things to clear up their skin. I was lucky that I responded. Today, no one can imagine what I went through. Le's be kind to those that aren't so lucky. Perfection is a myth and a burden that women mostly have been saddled with.
Recently, Kendall Jenner made news for attending the Golden Globes with active acne. She was criticized and made fun of. Her response was not to let that stop you. It's a positive message that I'm glad QVC promotes.

Yes, I agree, thank you! I am the same way. As a matter of fact, I have way more issues with my skin now --- am almost 66 -- than I ever did as a teen or young woman. I, like you, take very good care of my skin, and am very careful of what I use. However, issues arise anway. Am I happy about it and does it make me feel good and confident? No. But it is, what it is. I am sure these ladies on t.v. would love to have perfect skin, too.
