Misleading Josie Body Butter containers on the Q?

On the We Love QVC facebook group, there is a long discussion and complaints about the JM body butter containers.  Someone posted a picture of her new purchase and the container looked half full.  She understood it's sold by the weight, but was so disappointed after seeing the over-the-top full containers that Josie presents.

I understand her disappointment.  Do you think JM is misleading the public with the over-the-top full containers?

Yes,  i'm sure she's overfills for presentation.

I think it might be easier to show the actual butter when it's not hidden down inside a large jar where the camera can't get a good image of it when there are shadows all around. Same kind of thing that happens when they try to show the inside of a handbag. I'm sure the camera people find it a challenge.

I think the presenter need to mention that the jars have been over-filled for presentation purposes and that what we receive won't look like theirs.

While the product may be sold by weight, I would be upset too if I opened up a container of body butter and found it half full.  It's deceptive packaging.  Her products are not only sold on QVC, but they're also in Sephora, so someone buying in a store would expect that container to be mostly full as other body butters are.

It is disappointing for a person to open one of the containers up and have it seem half full.  Understand its sold by weight and when I buy her body butters, I'm willing to accept that it won't look full.  What bothers me more, however, is the size of the packaging.  What a waste.  Why not sell her body butters in small containers so that they look more full for the consumer but also is so much less plastic and waste.

Another good use for a simple scale!

Life offers us many times when presentation is everything -  whether it's a smear of lipstick, a quick polish of the hood of the car, or racing through the house to declutter when unexpected company just called to say they are 5 minutes away!

PS -  My 14 ounces of Josie seem to weigh the same as my 14 ounces of First Aid Cream no matter how full the containers looks when first opened.

I also watch presentations of other cosmetics...a lot of their containers are very full also.  Maybe not to the extent as Josies, but full.

But remember...example when you purchase a bag of chips.  Its a big bag, but when you open it...usually only half full, maybe close to 2/3, but not evern close to full.  Other items that you purchase...big containers....but not full.Is it ok with them, but deceptive for Josie???  I'm not defending her...but just pointing out things.  I have thought for a very long time that she or QVC should stop this practice.  She is getting a lot of negative reviews for this very reason.

I understand they overfill the containers for the presentations. It is common sense they wouldn't be able to close the container if it was that full. That said, I bought two sets of the recent TSV, and mine are packed to the brim. I was pleasantly surprised when I pulled the seal off.

Maybe  they should put that statement I've seen on other items........"product may have settled" or something to that effect.  I'm sure the weight of the JM product is correct, they wouldn't be able to sell it any other way.    Her items are mostly whipped so that would hold a lot of air, therefore most likely filling the jar to the brim when first packaged.

I don't think it is misleading at all.

When you buy in the drug store...the product has settled.

Sour cream settles, cottage cheese settles

Chips settle in the bag and so on.....

Sold by weight is sold by weight.  I don't think they have to make a bunch of clarifying statements.

Stores don't ....why should QVC
