It is safe, effective, and rates very low on the comedegenic charts.

@Shanus   As the article states, mineral oil is skincare is so refined it is not harmful.  I grew up on Vaseline and I am still here. Yes, we have new products to choose from but I sincerely think that some of the old ones are just as good.  Unfortunately, you get people that find something wrong in just about everything.

@marmarbrooklyn   Also, today it's the way that the products are marketed.  Pretty containers, expensive ingredients and you end of paying more where you could have used Vaseline and it would do the job if you know what I mean.  I grew up on Vaseline, cold cream and Nozema and I still have great skin.  It reminds me of that Dr. Denese who has had a lot of work done on her face and she is selling skincare -- LOL.

I think Vaseline by itself is protective in that it will hold the moisture in your skin.  So, in dry areas of the country or in winter when air gets really dry, it's a really good choice.  The much touted Hyaluronic Acid, on the other hand, draws moisture to itself.  If you live in a humid environment that's great.  But, if you live in a dry environment, it might be doing the opposite and draw moisture from your skin.  Same thing for glycerin which, btw, is one of the main ingredients in WEN according to the patent for it.

Several oils can actually help reduce oily skin. I know that sounds counterintuitive but it's true. When certain oils are applied to the skin then the skin reacts by shutting down it's own oil glands resulting in less oily skin. In some people, however, applying oils can lead to dry skin because applying oil can cause the oil gland to completely shut down. The key is to find an oil that your skin agrees with.

Thanks so much, heard that many times, I am usually attracted to something that says oil free with other humectants in it. Very lightweight moisturizers.

Re: Mineral Oil - The facts

Another mineral oil/petro disguised with a different name is Isohexadecane.  Also parrafin liquidium.

@Katcat1   I agree. I put Vaseline on my lips for many decades until I knew it had petroleum. Now I use other lip balms. It's always a personal choice.

@SilleeMee I'm currently using WEN Replenishing Treatment Mist and WEN oils on my face as my only moisturizer. I still have oily skin at 65, and this works really well for me. I'll have to find something less expensive when I run out, but I know they're out there!

@vermint

That's wonderful you found an oil which works for you. I can't use most oils on my face b/c they make my already dry skin even drier over time, especially argan oil. Not too long ago I rediscovered jojoba oil and did some research about it. I found out that it is not an actual oil but a liquid wax similar to our own skin sebum. I've been using that as my moisturizer and I really love it. I also purchased some jojoba butter and that should be here shortly. I can't wait to try that.

@SilleeMee I have been adding a tiny drop of jojoba to my nighttime moisturizer.  I really like it.
