She's had the same (acrylic) shape for as long as I can remember. Is it me, or do they look painful? The sides are filed so much (into the quick) and there doesn't seem to be any protective cuticle on either side. Ouch!

I'm not a fan of her nails, but they seem to please her, so I guess that's all that matters.

I agree they are filed too much on the sides. Painful and outdated. Not a good job. They also look like they grow in an upward angle off the finger. Very unnatural.

I am of the opinion that French manicures only look good on women who have a long nail bed. Her pink to white ratio has always been off. I have a short nail bed too and on the rare occasions I use nail polish ( a whole other story), I feel they look better one solid, fairly neutral color. Also, if you have a short nail bed, you are inclined to get that "too short on the sides" look.

I'm watching her now and there have been several close-ups. Some of her cuticles are red and torn because the sides are gone.

I think French Manicures are dated and I agree they look better on a long nail bed.

Mary Beth's nails have always been an odd shape but that's the way she likes them. They are always pristine, unlike some of the other hosts.

I've always liked the oval shape of MB's nails. So much more natural looking than those big square things. I agree, however, that French manis are passé.

I agree about those severe square nails, especially with a FM that looks like they used White Out on the tips.

I have never been a fan of her manicures. They're dated looking. And I do not like French manicures on anybody.

If someone is going to wear fake nails, I think the squoval shape looks best. Not a square, not an oval but something in between.

Mary Beth has probably been wearing acrylic nails for 30 years or more. I am sure her natural nails underneath are ruined. She probably no longer has a choice, she has to have them that way. If you wear acrylics for years like that, your real nails become so paper thin that it is actually painful to take off the acrylics and wear them natural.

I don't think her nails look bad but I do think the French manicure is a bit outdated. But what's worse than a French mani on fingernails is a French pedi. I don't care for that at all.
