Has anyone ever heard of/used "Drunk Elephant" marula oil. I was browsing through the Sephora site and came across this brand. This marula oil has "virgin" on the label. The others I have tried have "pure." What's the diff??? I looked at their website and - cute story - named because elephants who eat the marula nuts that have fallen from the trees - get drunk. Also, this brand of marula oil is expensive - $72 for one ounce. They also have some soaps and moisturizers listed.

The drunk elephant website answers your question.

The Marula oil I use is cold pressed and pure and under $20 for a small bottle. I have no idea what "virigin" is suppose to mean. Be careful it's not some come on. Check the size of the bottle (ounces) for the $72. My Marula oil works fine and has balanced my skin (no dryness), soft, calms redness and really diminishes fine lines. I use acure Organics.

Thanks for your response KatCat. Even after looking at their website I still don't know why one is "virgin" and one is "pure." The marula oil I first started using was from Sephora - The Leakey Collection Marula Oil and I was very happy with the way it helped my puffy undereye area and my skin in general. I just don't get how, for one ounce, there is such a difference in price - $72, $58, and for Accure less than $20. But it's the same with argan oil - big differences in price for the same oils among the different brands.

Sounds similar to an organ oil type of item.

Allure magazine has an informative section on oils and they do specifically mention this brand (Drunk Elephant) which is very highly thought of. That said, they also mention Acure as having a nice marula oil too.

I knew that marula worked wonders for my under eye puffiness but never really understood why this oil did while other oils have no effect that way. Allure finally enlightened me when recommending African Botanics Resurrection Eye Creme (with marula oil) - apparently it is due to a green coffee oil within the marula.

Just plain ole marula oil is amazing on my under eye puffiness.

A few other brands mentioned to be also be very good - Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Facial Oil and Colbert Illumino Face Oil.

A lot of their info came from a Dr Colbert who has studied oils in skincare for over 15 years~

I'm not the OP, but I thank you all for the information posted thus far. I've been very curious about Marula oil. If it helps under eye puffiness as wackers mentioned, then I need to order the extra jumbo size ASAP!

Wackers: Thanks for the information regarding oils in Allure magazine. Also for recommending African Botanics eye cream. I have been using a sample of Tarte's Maracuja eye cream and it too has helped with undereye puffiness. Don't know what's in it but it seems to work well for me. However, I'll be on may way to order the African Botanics you talked about. Thanks.
