@JeanLouiseFinch Thanks for posting the article. I agree with you that Martino has a good chance of prevailing on the touching and intoxication issues. The article is unclear in its use of "clients." I think HSN sent an e-mail or letter to the owners/manufacturers of Gabor wigs, not the customers who bought them, telling them to find a new on-air rep.
I doubt HSN intended to ruin Martino's reputation publicly; they just wanted to get rid of him. I don't know how those two private messages (to Martino and to Gabor wigs) went public. Do you?

That makes sense. My assumption regarding customers was in error. And no, I don't know.

I'm not on social media, except for here, but I always thought he was creepy and am not surprised he got canned----him and Chas--yuck!!! I felt uncomfortable just watching him for the nano second before I changed channels---

Here's the thing for ME: the MODELS complained. No woman, no man, no PERSON should EVER feel uncomfortable doing their job. They apparently did and enough to file official complaints. You may like the vendor but that doesn't justify overlooking that just because it LOOKS ok to you in a video that it WAS OK to those being touched in ways they felt violated.
Not to mention that customers called in as well and commented on what THEY saw as inappropriate behavior. Who knows, perhaps the hosts also felt it crossed the line and complained. If he takes it to court, we'll all know, won't we?

I agree with you, but what was different last December from any other previous appearance/demonstration? If there were past complaints, there should have been some kind of corrective intervention and warning for him to cool it. Was there? None of us knows.

@JeanLouiseFinch You're right, we don't know but they do and they chose to go to management. We don't see everything that's going on on air either; it all depends on which camera is being used at the time for the live feed. Perhaps things went really over the top during the commercial breaks...who knows. Perhaps they always felt uncomfortable but tolerated it until some line was crossed during those shows. In the end, there had to be enough evidence for HSN corporate to go so far as to fire him and contact the other vendors whose products he represented.
Gone are the days of "oh, it's no beig deal, just the way he/she is" when it comes to this stuff. Employees are not going to stand for it and management (if smart) ends it ASAP. In the end, they can be sued by either party: vendor for firing; employees for not dealing with it. Best to have a clear and cut to the chase policy and then follow through it, you know? I doubt new vendors coming on will be touchy feely like those mentioned in this thread OR they'll use specific models of their own who don't mind it with clear instructions you don't do it to the employees without written consent first.

@FiddleDeeDee How do you know that models complained and viewers called in to complain? That might help us understand how his firing went public and give more strength to his lawsuit. Were there postings on HSN about this that now have been removed? Did any of the models have social media sites that stated this?

@PickyPicky3 In threads on FB groups. There are also sites where HSN/QVC events are discussed and there too, this has been a topic. Numerous posts discussed it. Could be family members of those who work at HSN, could be the employees under a FB name, who knows.
In anything, if you see similar information in different areas you begin to wonder about it. I have no reason to doubt due to seeing the videos as well as knowing a few who did call in and complain (we discussion it over the phone).
I suppose I've seen and known too many who were assaulted but not believed because of the "oh, but he's so nice. We've never seen him act like THAT. Oh, that's just his way. You must be imagining it" bullblip. Usually where there's smoke, there's fire. Plus, do you really think HSN is going to risk being found to have NO reason for doing what they did AND for those reasons? Pretty stupid for ANY company to take that kind of a risk today.
His firing went publice because HE made huge annoucements on his page, on HSN's page and some other media outlets. HSN never went public with it. All information has been leaked from his camp. I would never have known it had happened if he hadn't put it on the HSN FB page (it didn't last long).
Again, if it goes to court, exactly what happened will be known.

@Desert Lily wrote:@Caaareful Shopper This afternoon I googled & watched Martino Cartier on HSN on 12/28/22 via YouTube, and I agree with you. Yikes.
I never watched him or knew who he was before. But, I couldn't help wonder; What was he thinking?
@Desert Lily I looked over at youtube and put in his name hsn 12/28/22 and a video for a TSV about 1hr long comes up? Is this the video you are talking about?
He doesn't appear to be drunk at all...very loud and promoting the wigs yes but all these shopping channels do that. Dennis Basso comes to mind with all the loud yelling and horrible touching and standing in front of the models.
I didn't see him grabbing or touching anyone....just touch the wigs or shoulder. He did do that short swing around dip dance move with the one model to prove the wigs are on tight at 28mins into this video.
Perhaps I am watching the wrong video where he is drunk? where is that one that got him fired?

@FiddleDeeDee I'm just trying to pinpoint WHEN HSN defamed Martino publicly. If viewers were posting Martino was intoxicated and touching inappropriately on the HSN threads, AND HSN failed to take down those comments quickly, I guess you could allege that HSN was complicit in publicizing that information.
I think Martino has a shot at winning the suit. If I were a lawyer, I'd take on his case. It still will come down to proving intent.
