Mario Badescu lawsuit for their Healing and Control Creams

I am a firm believer in Mally products, but found a cream, called Control Cream, by Mario Badescu. I know it isn't carried by OVC, but I'd like to see if anyone else is familar with this brand?

Recently, I received an email stating that there is now a lawsuit against Mario Badescu for their Healing and Control creams. It NOW comes out that they have been using a secret steroid in their "natural products!" What??

Control Cream was the ONLY thing I found to control the cracking around my eyes!! What happens now? Will I have medical issues due to the constant use of this product? One I thought was "natural"?! I wrote to the company, and have not heard back.

Does anyone have any input on this issue? I am concerned!

Thank you for your attention to this upsetting issue!!

Looks like it's been pulled from the market.

Stop using it, I guess. But, it appears most people already knew it was a steroid cream. Google for all the articles and reviews.

I don't know enough about the product, company or the ingredients in the cream to be able to form an informed opinion, however, I would recommend that you keep on top of it by doing some research.

Hydro-cortisone would be my guess, incorporated at an OTC level, which would make the "cream" fall under a pharmaceutical category rather than a cosmetic one. The FDA may have caught on to it and is investigating. Just my speculation.

It doesn't sound as if you've had any adverse reactions so far and if it were me I wouldn't be too concerned for now.

I'm interested in knowing what the ingredient is/are. Going to do a little digging myself.

Thanks for posting and I hope all goes well!

magemay, it appears that the company changed the formula in about February/March of 2013 after the product was pulled from the market.

I have found two separate reviews, one on Amazon and one on makeupalley, that talk about having a reaction to the new formula -- TSW (topical steroid withdrawal).

I was able to find the ingredients in the old formula on a beautypedia review of the product dated from 2009: Here is a LINK to that review. You can see the ingredients listed, and yup, they do not include any steroid.

Suzy, seriously my eyes are filled with too many laughing tears from the Trader Joe's tingly thread that I can barely see the screen.

I saw the class action suit, and the date is 2/09 to present. I'll check the rest tomorrow.

Thanks for posting, and mostly, thanks for starting the TJT thread and sharing some laughs.

Verrrrry interesting. I've tried both of these products in the past (it's been a long time, though) and they did not work for me. However, I still like the Hyaluronic Eye Cream and a few other MB products. I'll have to go google.

Interesting. I hadn't heard this one, either, but I haven't used MB Control Cream. As it happens, I am currently using their Moisturizing Cream with Biocare and Hyaluronic Acid. I like it but am not "wow'd" by it so I don't plan on repurchasing. I also use their Drying Lotion for the occasional pimple, which I do like but plan to try their Buffering Lotion next as I occasionally get cystic acne (thank you, hormones {#emotions_dlg.mad})

Of course Hydrocortisone would be the most obvious steroid, but Triamcinolone, good grief!

Now I'm really intrigued. I want to see if I can somehow locate the Korean studies to find a conformation.
