Mammogram is scheduled January 31

Is it normal to have to wait so long to get a mammogram appointment? It is a new gyno for me and that is the earliest they could fit me in. I found a lump but that I want to get checked out but based on reading I've done I *think* (trying to not be to anxious) it should be OK because it is hard smooth and round, but I do want to get it checked.
