If you want/need full coverage you don't get that with powder foundation - just fyi.

My advice would be to get IT Cosmetics powder Celebration Foundation...the original in the black compact, not the illumination version. It is the best foundation I have ever used...and it is so quick and easy!!! It looks very natural in all lighting and lasts all day.
And it does cover up any imperfections perfectly. Be sure to get an IT brush too. I like either the brush that is double-ended or the brush with the flat top. You cannot make a mistake with this foundation!!! It literally takes about 30 seconds to apply...tap, tap, tap the brush into the compact and stipple it onto your face!!! And you are done!!!
I wear the Light shade. In some foundations in the past I wore the very lightest porcelain colors. But with this Celebration Foundation, the Light shade works perfectly. And I do wear a moisturizer underneath...Sebamed. But whatever moisturizer you choose will work just fine.
I highly recommend this Celebration Foundation...it is the most fantastic foundation I have ever used!!! Will never go back to liquid. There is no transfer...no smudging...no touch-ups needed from morning until bedtime. I love it!!!

Hi and welcome back! I'm makeup challenged but I will offer my 2 cents! Since you have a few issues and wanting to start with something simple, I would highly recommend Laura Geller Balance & Brighten. Normally powder makeup is something which is not really great for us mature ladies but this stuff is wonderful! It does not settle in fine lines, is forgiving and very easy to apply. And it is buildable. Also, you can concenrate more on the areas where you feel you need more coverage. I think one important thing is to start simple and not go with a bunch of products all at once. As far as concealer, you can dot it on problem spots, too. I have been known on occasion to use concealer instead of makeup but I don't use it all over. I just use what I call the "dot and smudge" method on the places where I really need it. I think when we get older, it's not good to use a full face of heavy makeup of any kind because it just accentuates lines and other imperfections. Good luck!

After reading this and seeing you are saying you are a hot mess, think that is sad to read , think in this country people are so concerned about beauty and aging . Before any makeover you have to improve your feelings about yourself and what you are seeing might not even be seen by others. We are all not makeup artists, hair stylists or beauty queens, plus we are too hard on ourselves. That why I am thinking you might call for some intervention from the medical field before you go out buying cleasers, concealer, foundation, serums, blushes, lipsticks, thinking that is going to be the answer., Think your problem might be deeper and I am speaking from experience, will share this after suffering Bell's Palsy with facial paralysis when I was in my early 20's and many many decades later never recovered 100% . But know my husband married me for who I am ,my children as they got older told me they never noticed it ,I was so surprised as knew friends, strangers saw it as you just know when people stare at you .
Once was in the hospital for just blood work and heard 2 nurses saying thought she was looking for the emergency room thought she had a stroke ,but you learn to live with what you are dealt in life as someone might be worst off then you.
Once you start liking yourself I did have therapy in my younger years because I knew I needed it as it wasn't going away
In your case yes a little dab of concealer, some blush or lipstick can be applied to hide what you see and others might see or don't even see . But please reach out for some help ,and remember you are not one hot mess and 63 is not old .

I'm so glad the mods reconsidered and put your thread back on the forum. My reply was eliminated but that's ok, you still have some great advice and hopefully something will resonate with you. Maybe you could change your user name to something like @I Won't Give Up ![]()

Oops, this isn't the thread the mods removed. I'm sorry they removed your "thank you" thread. It might have been something I said in a reply. I'm so sorry if it was me.

@Giving Up It's never too late to start caring for your skin. True, it would have given you a headstart at prevention had you started when you were younger but do yourself a favor and invest in a basic hydrating cleanser, a simple exfoliator, an eye cream, a moisturizer and sunscreen. The drugstore has some very effective products. Until you start a routine involving these steps, any foundation you use will only emphasize the flaws you think you have.
There are tutorials on YouTube that can educate you about some relatively inexpensive products for mature women that can improve the quality of your skin. Be consistent and you will see the benefits over time.

If you live near a city, to to the make-up counter and get a rep from a major brand to help you.
They do, or should do, a full make-up routine to match your skin and your problems. I did that years ago and have always been glad I did.
Always use a GOOD base and foundation. The extra you will pay is worth it! It is on your skin all day so you want something nourishing! I do use some cheaper brands of mascara, shadows and brow color.
Find one good basic look and stick with it! You can always change it for a dramatic evening out!

The people on here can give you great advice but they can't analyze your skin and what works great for them may not work for your skin. You need expert advice!
