If the goal is to look youthful, this stenciled look doesn't accomplish that.  It looks cheap and tawdry like the dramatic cat eye eyeliner look.  Always reminds me of fortune-tellers and pole dancers.

I'm not even talking about thick eyebrows. The vendors keep saying that thick eyebrows are key for a more youthful look. Well, that is not always true. It depends on a lot of things -- age, face shape. An older woman does not look good with thick eyebrows, especially if she has wrinkles or bags around her eyes, thick eyebrows can weigh down her eyes.

What I'm talking about is the "flat" drawn on look that has an exact outline. An exact outline is not natural looking. Hairs on the brows do not have an exact outline. Also, the squared off inner edge is never a natural look.

I take a sharpened $1.00 Wet n' Wild taupe pencil and use tiny strokes to simulate individual hairs. That's what works for me. I've tried making a thick brow and that does not work for me. It makes me look older, not younger. I only need to fill in a small bit of what I naturally have. I also don't make an exaggerated arch --  a severe arch is not natural looking. I also don't extend the tail down into an almost vertical line like they did on the older, very attractive model with the white hair.

Sometimes I think I should be doing these demonstrations -- the right way. :-)

@chrystaltree  That is a wicked funny story.   Seems like something out of the eighties.  LOL    I have tried so many brow products (lost due to chemo) and the best one I ever tried was Josie Maran's but they discontinued it, so disappointing.   Needless to say I am a nut about natural looking brows so I have a sense of humor about it.  I would be terrified to tattoo them on in case I didn't like them.  Right now I've been using Benefit goof proof and /or Anastasia.   Both do the trick but I hope Josie comes out with a new one.

I like to think we all have those "what was I thinking" stories...lol   I cannot even explain how thick, heavy and ridiculous those stamped brows are...lol   My Groucho brows...lol   I must be spending wayyyy to much time on FB.  It's not like there aren't many excellent, legit brow products on the market, I only had to choose one...lol   Hubby is not gonna let go...not for a long time...lol

Jamie from IT Cosmetic has  magic marker eye brows as did Lisa Robinson.  I think it looks very harsh and aging let alone fake looking.  Reminds me of someone....B2A41154-DD45-4B69-9B3E-62CA0F5A1BBB-2679-000003B392F8EC78.jpegB2A41154-DD45-4B69-9B3E-62CA0F5A1BBB-2679-000003B392F8EC78.jpeg36FDBE93-AE11-4CDF-B22A-748F800F9A03-2679-000003B3EDE6BD4C.jpeg

My brows are very dark and very thick. I have to trim and tame them to make them look descent. A few people have asked me if I draw on my brows because they are so dark and almost unnatural looking. I've thought of lightening the hair and see if I like it but it might look odd with my black hair on my head.Woman LOL

Last night I stopped in a Mexican restaurant to take out.  The young Hispanic girl at the register had drawn on her eyebrows.  It looked horrible.  She made her brows too big and long.  I don't believe these women look in the mirror!  However, my taco dinner was delicious!

The trouble is, they do look in the mirror and think it looks nice!

I notice that many Mexican and a Hispanic Women draw huge dark brows on...I believe it is a cultural beauty statement.

Jamie Kern Lima, yes I agree.  But Lisa Robertson, you couldn't be more wrong.  She had extremely natural, BEAUTIFUL brows.  Her closeups clarified that regularly - just gorgeous.

I've always thought she was beautiful but her brows always seemed to be over-done.

Seeing Liz's picture, I remember always wanting her eyebrows growing up. My eyebrows are normal-I managed to not pluck them away when younger.  Not much arch to them, but I drew bigger ones in with a pencil.  As I am now in my 60s, I quit doing that (years ago, thankfully), but have been unhappy with the fact they were no longer "normal"-not disappearing, but not as full or thick. Well, started using Rapidlash, and my brows are growing like crazy and are even darker.  I don't have to use any makeup on them anymore.  I am not a representative for RLash, but sounds like it, huh?  My lashes are so much longer too.  I love the look of my 'natural" brows and lashes (but I do use mascara!).

Really?  I agree with @SeaMaiden.  "Natural" is not a word I'd use to describe Lisa.  Her brows could fall into that magic marker category along with her lip lining techniques which were usually much darker than the rest of her lip and drawn well outside of the natural lines.
